The present invention relates to a process for producing an aqueous polymer dispersion of polymerized ethylenically unsaturated monomers M having a polymer content of at least 55 wt. % and a polymodal particle size distribution of the polymer particles of the polymer dispersion. The invention also relates to aqueous polymer dispersions obtained from this process as well as aqueous liquid compositions comprising at least one aqueous polymer dispersion and the use of such aqueous liquid compositions as binder.
HYBRID EXPANDABLE COMPOSITION AND USE THEREOF
A hybrid expandable composition that provides improved expansion and loft properties is disclosed. The hybrid expandable composition is particularly useful in providing insulation and/or cushion to substrates.
AQUEOUS COMPOSITION OF ORGANIC POLYMERIC MICROSPHERES, BINDER PARTICLES, AND ION EXCHANGE RESIN
The present invention relates to a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of a) polymer particles having a z-average particle size in the range of from 50 nm to 500 nm; b) anion exchange resin particles having a D.sub.50 median particle size in the range of from 0.1 μm to 50 μm; and c) polymeric organic microspheres having a D.sub.50 median particle size in the range of from 1 μm to 20 μm, wherein the weight-to-weight ratio of polymer particles to microspheres is in the range of from 0.5:1 to 20:1. The composition of the present invention is useful for paint compositions that form matte finishes with an excellent balance of stain blocking and stain removal properties.
ULTRA-LOW INTERFACIAL TENSION SUPPORT MEDIUM FOR HIGH PRECISION SILICONE 3D PRINTING
In one aspect, the disclosure relates to a support material for 3D printing of soft materials having feature sizes <5 .Math.m that persist over time, methods of 3D printing using the same, and articles that include soft matter constructed using the disclosed methods. In one aspect, the support materials can be jammed inverse emulsions having silicone oils as the continuous phase and glycerol/water mixtures as the dispersed phase. In some aspects, the support materials also include a surfactant. In any of these aspects, the support materials can be optically clear.
AQUEOUS RESIN COMPOSITION, AQUEOUS PAINT, AND PLASTIC MOLDED ARTICLE COATED WITH THE AQUEOUS PAINT
Provided is an aqueous resin composition containing a polycarbonate-modified acrylic resin that is a reaction product of a polycarbonate diol (A) made from 1,4-butanediol as an essential raw material and an unsaturated monomer mixture (B) containing methyl methacrylate, an unsaturated monomer (b1) having a hydroxy group, an unsaturated monomer (b2) having a carboxy group, and an unsaturated monomer (b3) having an alicyclic structure as essential components, and an aqueous medium, in which the ratio of the unsaturated monomer (b3) in the unsaturated monomer mixture (B) is in the range of 3 to 60% by mass. This aqueous resin composition is suitable for aqueous paints and plastic molded articles since the composition can form a coating film having high adhesion to a plastic substrate and having high water-resistant adhesion and fragrance resistance.
METHOD FOR OBTAINING WATER-BASED PAINTS USING EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE (EPS) WASTE AND/OR EXTRUDED POLYSTYRENE (XPS) WASTE AS RAW MATERIAL
A process for obtaining water-based paints using expanded polystyrene (EPS) and/or extruded polystyrene (XPS) waste as raw material by a) cleaning the EPS and/or XPS waste with a surfactant to remove organic matter; b) rinse and remove all surfactants and solvents; c) treating the EPS and/or XPS waste with an organic solvent until obtaining a mixture with a concentration of EPS and/or XPS of 20 and 80% w/w; d) decanting the impurities from the mixture obtained in step (c) for 24 hours to 120 hours; e) collecting the supernatant obtained from step (d); f) make a mixture of the supernatant obtained in step (e) with emulsifier and then water; g) pigment dispersion in the mixture obtained in (f), for 5 to 50 minutes at a 500 and 3.000 rpm and 20 and 90° C.; h) mix the product of step (g) with water until the desired concentration is achieved.
BITUMEN CUTBACK COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
A bitumen cutback composition is described substantially comprising Compound A with a formula:
R1-X—R2 [COMPOUND A]
where R1 is alkyl or phenyl hydrocarbon group; X is an O—C═O group; and R2 is a C1-C13 hydrocarbon chain branched or non-branched, with none, one, or more than one, oxygen interruption(s).
The bitumen cutback composition may comprise: alkyl esters of fatty acids, esters of trihydroxy alcohols, mono ester, or di, or tri, hydroxy alcohols, phenyl alkyl esters, phenoxy alcohols and their esters, ether alcohols and their esters, and combinations thereof. Cutback bitumen mixtures are described comprising bitumen; and bitumen cutback composition. The cutback bitumen mixtures may be configured as a hot mix composition; a cold mix composition; or an emulsion, the emulsion further comprising an aqueous compound. Methods of temporarily reducing a viscosity of bitumen and methods of applying bitumen to a substrate are also described.
POLYMER WITH LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT PORTION AND HIGH GLASS TRANSITION TEMPERATURE PORTION FOR EARLY BLOCK RESISTANCE
Polymers including single-stage and multi-stage polymers that combine the properties of the structural integrity of a polymer with a high glass transition temperature (Tg) with a softer, lower molecular weight polymer that coalesces quickly and is flexible to maintain scrubbability are disclosed. The single-stage or an outer stage of the multi-stage polymer contains both a cross-linking monomer and a chain transfer agent at different portions of the stage.
