THICKENING ANIONIC COPOLYMER
20190211125 · 2019-07-11 · ·

The invention relates to a copolymer obtained by polymerisation reaction of at least three comonomers: a first anionic monomer, a second monomer comprising an olefin unsaturation, and a third monomer comprising a hydrophobic group. The invention likewise relates to the use of said copolymer as a thickening agent, in particular in aqueous suspensions of mineral particles with high solids content. The copolymer according to the invention makes it possible to improve the compromise between viscosity with high shear gradient and viscosity with low shear gradient, while also improving water retention inside the suspension.

Acoustically transparent sandable coating

A formulation for an acoustically transparent coating for use on an acoustical substrate comprising a water dispersible binder and relatively large filler particles, and characterized by a high pigment to volume concentration, high viscosity, high shear thinning, and fast drying to enable the formulation to be sprayed in droplets that retain their identity when in mutual contact and in a dry coating can be efficiently sanded flat.

PROCESS FOR OVERSPRAY-FREE APPLICATION OF A RESIN COMPOSITION AND RESIN COMPOSITIONS FOR USE IN THE PROCESS

The invention relates to a process for overspray-free application of a non-aqueous thixotropic resin composition on a substrate surface and to non-aqueous thixotropic resin compositions for use in the process comprising a resin and a thixotropy agent comprising polyurea particles characterised in that the resin composition has a high-shear viscosity HSV measured at a shear rate of 1000?50 s.sup.?1 that is lower than 100 mPa.Math.s and a creep compliance Jmax measured after 300 seconds using a creep stress of 1.0 Pa of lower than 250 Pa.sup.?1.

RESIN FORMULATION CONTAINING CURE SPEEDING INORGANIC PARTICULATE AND USE THEREOF AS A SURFACE MARKER
20190106578 · 2019-04-11 ·

A surface marker resin formulation is provided that includes a linear aromatic polyester or a co-polymer thereof. The resin is dissolved or dispersed in a solvent exclusive of naphtha. An inorganic particulate having an average maximal linear extent of between 10 and 130 microns present from 22 to 41 total weight percent. A process of marking a surface includes two articles being brought into a pre-selected alignment to define a surface. A continuous bead is applied to the surface. The solvent evaporates to a state of dry-to-touch in a time of between less than 60 seconds to mark the surface. The formulation is readily applied from a pen to achieve a controlled bead width. The drying of the formulation by solvent evaporation yields full hardness in 24 hours under standard temperature and pressure as measured at 0% humidity.
