Synthesis of functional fluorinated polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (“F-POSS”)
A method of manufacturing a fluorinated polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane. The method for manufacture includes opening a single edge of a closed-cage F-POSS and bridging the opened, single edge with a sulfate group. The sulfate group is converted to a disilanol, which is then reacted with a functional dichlorosilane having an organic functional group comprising at least three carbon atoms.

wherein A is an at least monosubstituted alkylene or arylene group; B is an amide, ester or ether group and n is 0 or 1; F is selected from: an ester, secondary amine, amide, ether, thio ether, thio ester, and may be the same or different for the different side chains; D is a side chain intended to reversible bind to a substrate or has a coating function; E is a side chain intended to irreversible bind to a substrate, the side chain E and polymer includes 1 to 10 different side chains D and 1 to 10 different side chains E, but at least one of each, and includes a plurality of each type, whereby the different types of side chains are randomly or regularly distributed in the polymer.

To provide an antifogging agent composition having excellent sustainability of antifogging performance.
An anti fogging agent composition includes a copolymer (A), a polyfunctional blocked isocyanate compound (B), and a surfactant (C). The copolymer (A) is formed of 35 to 90 parts by weight of the monomer (A-1), 5 to 60 parts by weight of the monomer (A-2), and 5 to 30 parts by weight of the monomer (A-3) per 100 parts by weight of the copolymer (A). An NCO/OH ratio obtained by dividing an isocyanate group content (NCO) of the polyfunctional blocked isocyanate compound (B) by a hydroxyl group content (OH) of the copolymer (A) is within a range from 0.1 to 1.5. The surfactant (C) includes 1.00 to 10.0 parts by weight of the anionic surfactant (C-1) and 0.01 to 3.00 parts by weight of the cationic surfactant (C-2) per 100 parts by weight of the copolymer (A).
