COMPOSITION INCLUDING AMINO-FUNCTIONAL SILANES AND METHOD OF APPLYING A SEALANT TO A SUBSTRATE
The composition includes a first amino-functional silane including an amino group and a silane group, in which the amino group and the silane group are connected by an organic linking group, and a second amino-functional silane including a secondary or tertiary amino group and least two independently selected silane groups, in which the secondary or tertiary amino group is connected to each of the two independently selected silane groups by organic linking groups. The first amino-functional silane can be a polyamino-functional silane having at least two amino groups and a silane group in which at least one of the amino groups and the silane group are connected by an organic linking group. The composition can include a photoluminescent compound exhibiting photoluminescence at an excitation wavelength above 400 nanometers. Use of the composition as an adhesion promoter and a method including applying the composition to a substrate surface are also disclosed.

LIGHT-ABSORBING COMPOSITION AND OPTICAL FILTER
A light-absorbing composition according to the present invention includes: a light absorber; a curable resin; and an alkoxysilane. The alkoxysilane includes a dialkoxysilane. Since the alkoxysilane of the light-absorbing composition includes the dialkoxysilane, desired flexibility is likely to be imparted to a light-absorbing layer owing to an organic functional group of the dialkoxysilane while a strong skeleton having a siloxane bond is formed in the light-absorbing layer.
COATING PROVIDING CONTROLLED ABSORPTION AND SCATTERING
An article includes a substrate with a surface, a coating disposed over the surface, and a subtractive colorant which absorbs electromagnetic radiation according to a specified absorption spectrum. The coating includes a binder material and a plurality of porous polymer particles having pores with a distribution of pore sizes adapted to scatter electromagnetic radiation in one or more specified wavelength bands, wherein the porous polymer particles have a shell which is impermeable to a liquid.

GOLF BALL AND RESIN COMPOSITION FOR COVER OR TOPCOAT THEREOF
Provided are a golf ball and a resin composition for a cover or topcoat thereof which can suppress the yellowing of the golf ball caused by ultraviolet rays even if a naturally derived substance is used as an ultraviolet absorber, and they are environmentally and human friendly. A resin composition for a cover or topcoat of a golf ball of the present invention contains: a resin for a cover or topcoat; and a plant-derived extract which absorbs ultraviolet rays. The resin composition has a color difference ΔE of 10.0 or less in a Lab color system between before and after a color tone change test, the color tone change test being carried out by irradiating a film formed from the resin composition with a xenon lamp. In the golf ball of the present invention, the cover or the topcoat is formed by using the resin composition.

Annular nuclear fuel pellets with central burnable absorber
An annular nuclear fuel pellet in combination with an inserted discrete neutron absorber. The pellet/absorber may be compatible with existing or future nuclear fuel assembly designs. The concept involves the use of nuclear fuel (e.g., uranium dioxide or uranium silicide) formed into annular fuel pellets which can then have a discrete absorber material inserted into the center of the pin. Preferably, the discrete absorber is a non-parasitic absorber. The resulting pellet/absorber can then be stacked into a fuel rod which is arranged in a nuclear fuel assembly. Dimensioning of the annular pellet and absorber and selection of the absorber material and density can allow the concept to be tailored for various nuclear fuel applications.
