USE OF ADDITIVES CONTAINING PRIMARY ALKANOLAMINES IN AQUEOUS MINERAL SUSPENSIONS
The present invention relates to the technical domain of additives for aqueous high solids suspensions of mineral materials. The inventive additive comprises specific primary amines and is used for increasing the pH-value of the suspension and/or for increasing the wettability of the mineral materials.
CYAN PIGMENT DISPERSION
A cyan pigment dispersion includes a non-self-dispersed cyan pigment, a first dispersant, a second dispersant, and a balance of water. The first dispersant is a styrene-acrylic copolymer having an acid number ranging from about 120 mg KOH/g to about 220 mg KOH/g. The second dispersant has an acid number less than 100 mg KOH/g.
EDGE PROTECTION FOR ELECTROCOAT
Aqueous cathodic electrocoat compositions with improved edge protection and methods for preparing such electrocoat compositions are described herein. In an exemplary embodiment, an electrocoat composition includes water; a crosslinkable resin comprising a binder of an epoxy-amine adduct and a crosslinking agent; a neutralizing agent for neutralizing the epoxy amine adduct, wherein the neutralizing agent has a pKa value of greater than 0; and a pigment paste. The pigment paste may comprise silica, barium sulfate or silica and barium sulfate.
WATER-BASED PIGMENT DISPERSION AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING WATER-BASED PIGMENT DISPERSION
A water-based pigment dispersion contains a pigment (A) including C.I. Pigment Orange 64 (a) having a primary particle size of 150 nm or less, a pigment-dispersing resin (B) containing a radical polymer having an acid value of 50 to 200 mg KOH/g, and water (C).
AQUEOUS PIGMENT DISPERSION
A pigment water dispersion including pigment-containing polyester resin particles. An alcohol component as a raw material monomer of the polyester resin satisfies the following conditions 1 and 2. Condition 1: a content of a compound (I) represented by the following formula (I) in the alcohol component is not more than 7 mol %,

Condition 2: a content of a compound (II) comprising two secondary hydroxy groups except for the compound (I) in the alcohol component is not less than 45 mol %.
Metal oxide-containing dispersion with high salt stability
Aqueous dispersion containing a hydrophilic metal oxide powder comprising a metal oxide and a surface modification of the metal oxide, wherein a) the metal oxide is selected from the group consisting of TiO.sub.2, ZrO.sub.2, SiO.sub.2, Al.sub.2O.sub.3, Fe.sub.2O.sub.3, Fe.sub.3O.sub.4, Sb.sub.2O.sub.3, WO.sub.3, CeO.sub.2 and mixed oxides thereof and b) the surface modification b1) comprises silicon atoms and aluminum atoms and b2) the silicon atoms are at least partly bonded to a hydrocarbon radical via a C atom and b3) the Al/Si molar ratio of the surface modification is 1:2-1:20.
N-Alkyl glucamine-based universal pigment dispersions
The invention relates to aqueous binder-free pigment dispersions containing (A) at least one organic and/or inorganic pigment, (B) one or more dispersing agents and/or surfactants, (C) at least one base of formula (I), where R.sup.1 is H, C.sub.1-C.sub.4-alkyl, CH.sub.2CH.sub.2OH or CH.sub.2CH(CH.sub.3)OH, (D) optionally, one or more polyalkylene glycols, (E) optionally, other additives commonly used for making aqueous pigment dispersions, and (F) water. ##STR00001##
AQUEOUS INK COMPOSITION FOR WRITING INSTRUMENT
Provided is an aqueous ink composition for a writing instrument with excellent stability of ink flow and the like, in which aggregation of a microcapsule pigment and clogging due to such aggregation are suppressed. The aqueous ink composition for a writing instrument includes a microcapsule pigment which includes inside, at least, a pigment and a medium of a fatty acid polyol ester. A melting point of the fatty acid polyol ester is preferably 40 C. or higher, and is preferably 70 C. or lower.
AQUEOUS PIGMENT DISPERSION
The present invention relates to [1] a water-based pigment dispersion formed by dispersing a pigment in a water-based medium with a polymer dispersant, in which the dispersant contains an acid group-containing (meth)acrylic resin (A) and a polyurethane resin (B); the resin (A) is crosslinked with a crosslinking agent (C), and a crosslinking degree of the resin (A) is from 0.12 to 0.65; and a mass ratio of the pigment [pigment/whole solid components of water-based pigment dispersion] is from 0.25 to 0.75, and [2] a process for producing a water-based pigment dispersion, including step 1 of subjecting a pigment mixture containing a pigment, an acid group-containing (meth)acrylic resin (A) and a polyurethane resin (B) to dispersion treatment to obtain a dispersion; and step 2 of subjecting the dispersion obtained in the step 1 to crosslinking treatment with a crosslinking agent (C).
AQUEOUS DISPERSION OF COLORED PARTICLES
Provided is an aqueous dispersion of colored particles suitable for colorants for writing instrument inks, inkjet inks, painting materials, aqueous coatings, and the like. The aqueous dispersion of colored particles includes a polymer having at least a unit of a monomer derived from a dye having a polymerizable unsaturated group. The monomer derived from the dye is preferably derived from the compound represented by General Formula (1) below:

Y.sub.2 represents O or NR.sub.10, where R.sub.10 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group,
