AQUEOUS PIGMENT DISPERSION
The present invention relates to [1] a pigment water dispersion containing pigment-containing crosslinked polymer particles, in which a crosslinked polymer in the particles is a polymer that is crosslinked with a compound represented by the general formula (1), and the pigment is a carbon black, and [2] a process for producing a pigment water dispersion containing pigment-containing crosslinked polymer particles, including the following steps: Step (1): subjecting a pigment mixture containing a water-dispersible polymer, a pigment and water to dispersion treatment, thereby obtaining an aqueous pigment dispersion solution containing pigment-containing polymer particles; and Step (2): mixing the aqueous pigment dispersion solution obtained in the step (1) and a compound represented by the general formula (1) to react the water-dispersible polymer with the compound to prepare a crosslinked polymer, thereby obtaining the pigment water dispersion containing pigment-containing crosslinked polymer particles.
AQUEOUS PIGMENT DISPERSION LIQUID, AQUEOUS INK-JET INK, AND DRY COATING
There is provided an aqueous pigment dispersion that makes it possible to prepare an environmentally conscious aqueous inkjet ink in which a pigment is finely dispersed in a stable manner and at a high level and which is capable of recording an image having excellent durability, glossiness, color developability, and adhesiveness to various printing substrates. The aqueous pigment dispersion is an aqueous pigment dispersion containing a pigment, water, a water-soluble organic solvent, and a polymeric dispersant that disperses the pigment, wherein the polymeric dispersant is a polymer including a constitutional unit (i) derived from at least one of (meth)acrylic acid and itaconic acid, and a constituent unit (ii) derived from a (meth)acrylate derived from biological material, such as ethyl (meth)acrylate, having an acid value of 30 to 250 mgKOH/g, having a number average molecular weight of 1,000 to 30,000, and having a polydispersity index (weight average molecular weight/number average molecular weight) of 2.5 or less, wherein the content of the constituent unit (ii) is 50% by mass or more, and at least part of carboxy groups are neutralized with an alkali.
Effect pigment dispersion and method for forming multilayer coating film
The present invention provides an effect pigment dispersion that contains water, a wetting agent (A), a flake-effect pigment (B), and specific cellulose nanofibers (C). The effect pigment dispersion has a solids content of 0.1 to 10 parts by mass, per 100 parts by mass of all of the components of the effect pigment dispersion; and has a viscosity of 100 to 10000 mPa.Math.sec as measured with a Brookfield viscometer at a rotational speed of 6 revolutions per minute.
AQUEOUS BLEND OF PIGMENT AND AN ALKOXYLATED AMINE

The present invention addresses a need in the art by providing an aqueous inorganic pigment solution or dispersion that does require biocide to resist promotion of microbial growth.
Alkoxylated polyamidoamines as dispersant agents
An alkoxylated polyamidoamine obtainable by a) reacting a polycarboxylic compound having a total number TN of carboxylic groups of 3 to 10 with a primary diamine of formula I H.sub.2NZNH.sub.2 wherein Z represents a bond or an organic group with 1 to 20 carbon atoms in a ratio of 0.3 TN to TN mols of the diamine per 1 mol of the polycarboxylic compound and b) alkoxylating the product obtained in a) with at least 0.5 mol of alkyleneoxide per 1 mol of primary amino groups.
Water-based coating composition
Provided is a water-based coating composition capable of forming a multilayer coating film having an excellent finished appearance and having excellent storage stability. A water-based coating composition to be used as a water-based first colored coating (X) in a 3-coat-1-bake multilayer coating formation method which sequentially applies a water-based first colored coating (X), a water-based second colored coating (Y), and a clear coating (Z) and heats and cures the obtained three-layer multilayer coating film simultaneously, wherein the water-based coating composition contains at least one resin selected from acrylic resins (A) and polyester resins (B), a curing agent (C), and urethane resin particles (D) obtained from structural components including a polyisocyanate component (d1) containing at least one diisocyanate (d1-1) selected from xylylene diisocyanate and hydrogenated xylylene diisocyanate and a polyol component (d2).
PIGMENT DISPERSIONS
The present disclosure is drawn to pigment dispersions including from 5 wt % to 30 wt % of a pigment having an amide group, a styrene acrylic polymer having a weight average molecular weight from 3,000 Mw to 30,000 Mw and having a weight ratio to the pigment of from 1:1 to 1:10, a lactam co-solvent having a weight ratio to the pigment of from 10:1 to 1:10, and water. The lactam co-solvent can be co-milled with the pigment and an at least 5 wt % portion of the lactam co-solvent can be adsorbed on the pigment via van der waals interaction with the amide group.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING WHITE FINE PARTICLE DISPERSION
The present invention relates to a process for producing a dispersion of white fine particles from which a white ink that is capable of exhibiting excellent hiding power, rub fastness and water resistance even when printed on a low-water absorbing printing medium can be obtained by incorporating the dispersion of the white fine particles into the ink, and a water-based ink for ink-jet printing which contains the white fine particles. The present invention provides [1] a process for producing a dispersion of white fine particles, including step 1 of mixing titanium oxide and a polymer dispersant at a pH value that is not less than an acid dissociation exponent (pKa) of at least a part of an acid component of the polymer dispersant to thereby obtain a titanium oxide dispersion, in which an isoelectric point (A) of the titanium oxide and the acid dissociation exponent (pKa) (B) of the polymer dispersant satisfy a relationship represented by the formula: AB0, the polymer dispersant contains a constitutional unit derived from a hydrophobic monomer, and a volume median particle size (D.sub.50) of particles in the titanium oxide dispersion is from 150 to 500 nm; and step 2 of adding a polymerizable monomer to the titanium oxide dispersion obtained in the step 1 to subject the polymerizable monomer to polymerization reaction, thereby obtaining the dispersion of the white fine particles, and [2] a water-based ink for ink-jet printing which contains the white fine particles obtained above.
Method for preparing cationic electrodeposition coating composition
The objective of the present invention is to provide a method for preparing a cationic electrodeposition coating composition that contains a bismuth compound and exhibits excellent coating material stability, curability, coating film appearance and the like. The present invention provides a method for preparing a cationic electrodeposition coating composition, which comprises a step for mixing a resin emulsion (i) and a pigment-dispersed paste, and wherein: the resin emulsion (i) contains an aminated resin (A) and a blocked isocyanate curing agent (B); the pigment-dispersed paste contains a bismuth mixture (C) that is obtained by mixing a bismuth compound (c1) and an organic acid (c2) in advance, a pigment-dispersed resin (D), an amine-modified epoxy resin emulsion (ii) that contains an amine-modified epoxy resin (E), and a pigment (F); the pigment-dispersed resin (D) has a hydroxyl number of 20-120 mgKOH/g; and the amine-modified epoxy resin (E) has a hydroxyl number of 150-650 mgKOH/g.
AQUEOUS PIGMENT DISPERSION
The present invention provides a pigment water dispersion that is excellent in dispersion stability, and also excellent in ejection properties even when used as an ink for ink-jet printing. The present invention relates to [1] a pigment water dispersion containing (A) a pigment, (B) a carboxy group-containing crosslinked polymer and (C) an alkyl group-containing ethanolamine having a pKa of not less than 8.7, [2] a water-based ink containing the pigment water dispersion, an organic solvent and a surfactant, and [3] a process for producing a pigment water dispersion, including step (I) of subjecting a mixture containing the pigment (A), a crosslinkable polymer, the aforementioned ethanolamine (C), an organic solvent and water to dispersion treatment, thereby obtaining a dispersion of pigment-containing polymer particles containing the pigment (A) and the crosslinkable polymer that is adhered onto the pigment (A); step (II) of removing the organic solvent from the obtained dispersion, thereby obtaining a water dispersion of the pigment-containing polymer particles; and step (III) of further subjecting the polymer to crosslinking reaction with a crosslinking agent, thereby obtaining the pigment water dispersion containing pigment-containing crosslinked polymer (B) particles.
