Provided is a metal-particle dispersion composition as a composition containing dispersed metal particles and being suitable for use in aqueous coating compositions, etc., the metal-particle dispersion composition comprising 10-80 mass % metal particles, 0.01-10 mass % organic titanate compound in a chelate form, 1-40 mass % water, and 2-30 mass % organic solvent having a higher boiling point than water, the amounts being based on the whole composition, wherein the organic titanate compound is an organic compound represented by Ti(OR).sub.4 (the OR groups include at least one chelatable substituent based on triethanolamine) and the organic solvent having a higher boiling point than water is a C.sub.7 or lower alcohol compound.

The present invention relates to a pigment dispersion for inkjet containing a dispersant (A), a pigment (B), and water (C), the dispersant (A) containing a non-cross-linked resin (A1) at least having a structural unit (a1) derived from an acid group-containing monomer, in the resin (A1), the acid groups in the structural unit (a1) being neutralized using a tertiary alkanolamine with a neutralization rate of greater than 100% and 200% or less with a neutralization rate when the acid groups are neutralized with a theoretical equivalent as 100%, and the tertiary alkanolamine having two to three hydroxy groups in a structure and having a boiling point of 150 to 330? C., and also relates to an inkjet ink containing the pigment dispersion for inkjet and a printed product printed with the inkjet ink.

Aqueous cathodic electrocoat compositions with improved edge protection and methods for preparing such electrocoat compositions are described herein. In an exemplary embodiment, an electrocoat composition includes water; a crosslinkable resin comprising a binder of an epoxy-amine adduct and a crosslinking agent; a neutralizing agent for neutralizing the epoxy amine adduct, wherein the neutralizing agent has a pKa value of greater than 0; and a pigment paste. The pigment paste may comprise silica, barium sulfate or silica and barium sulfate.

A method for preparing a dispersion of nanoparticles of a solid organic dye or pigment in a liquid carrier, and dispersions formed by such a method. The method includes continuously mixing: at least one solution or slurry containing a reactant precursor for the solid organic dye or pigment in an organic or other solvent with the liquid carrier in a counter current mixing reactor to obtain reaction of the reactant precursor and formation of the solid organic dye or pigment as a dispersion of nanoparticles in the liquid carrier and solvent mixture; optionally, removing unreacted reactant precursor and/or by-product from the dispersion when present; and optionally, concentrating the dispersion.

CONFIGURABLE COATING COMPOSITION

A coating system includes, as separate components: (a) a hiding pigment-free basecoat composition, including: (i) a basecoat resin; and (ii) a liquid carrier; and (b) and/or (c) as follows: (b) a pigment slurry composition, including: (iii) a hiding pigment; (iv) a rheology modifier; and (v) a liquid carrier; (c) an extender pigment slurry composition, including: (vi) an extender pigment; (vii) a rheology modifier; and (viii) a liquid carrier. The rheology modifier (iv) and/or (vii) includes an organic rheology modifier and an inorganic rheology modifier. The separate components are not mixed together. A method of preparing a coating composition is also disclosed.

DISPERSANT COMPOSITION

The present invention relates to a dispersant composition comprising: a) at least one oligomeric acid A, which has i) at least one acidic group selected from COOH and PO.sub.3H.sub.2, and ii) at least one polyoxyalkylene-ether radical of the formula (I): R(O-A).sub.xO-G-, where A is an C.sub.2-C.sub.4-alkan-1,2-diyl radical; X is an integer having a number average value in the range from 2 to 20; and R is hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 30 carbon atoms; G is a chemical bond or a carbonyl group; and b) at least one polyamine B, which is selected from the group consisting of polyvinylamines, poly-C.sub.2-C.sub.3-alkyleneimines, modified poly-C.sub.2-C.sub.3-alkyleneimines, melamine compounds, modified melamine compounds, poly-(C.sub.2-C.sub.4-alkyleneether) amines, polyetheramine polyols, and modified polyetheramine polyols. The invention also relates to aqueous pigment compositions containing a dispersant composition as defined herein, a pigment component, selected from the group consisting of pigments and mixtures of at least one pigment and at least one filler, and an aqueous diluent.
