Aqueous Dispersion of Cerium (III) Carbonate Particles

The present invention relates to a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of cerium (III) carbonate particles having a z-average particle size in the range of from 5 nm to 500 nm, which composition further comprises a capping ligand. The composition is useful as an additive in formulations that contain polymer, pigments, dyes, or tints, or a combination thereof, to promote color retention and attenuate unwanted color formation in coatings formed from these formulations.

Aqueous pigment dispersions

There are disclosed aqueous pigment dispersions containing dispersant-improving-agents, and methods of preparing and using the same.

WHITE PIGMENT DISPERSIONS

The present disclosure provides white pigment dispersions, which can include an aqueous liquid vehicle, and from 5 wt % to 70 wt % of a white metal oxide pigment dispersed by two co-dispersants. The metal oxide pigment can have an average particulate size from 100 nm to 1 μm, and the co-dispersants can include both i) a short-chain anionic dispersant having a weight average molecular weight ranging from 1,000 Mw to 30,000 Mw, and ii) a non-ionic or predominantly non-ionic dispersant.

The invention relates to a method for improving rheological properties of an aqueous pigment slurry. In the method dispersion agent is added to an aqueous phase of a slurry comprising pigment particles or to the aqueous phase into which the pigment particles are to be added. The dispersion agent comprises styrene acrylate copolymer. The invention relates also to dispersion agent for a pigment slurry comprising a first component comprising styrene acrylate copolymer and a second component comprising a conventional dispersion agent, such as a straight-chain polyacrylate.

Composition for coating textile articles and textile articles comprising it

The present invention relates to an aqueous paste composition for textile coating, comprising: 1-60 parts by weight of at least one material having tensile modulus of at least 2000 MPa, 1-24 parts by weight of at least one antistatic agent, 16-60 parts by weight of at least one binder, and 50-200 parts by weight of water. The invention also relates to a process for producing a coated fabric, to a coated fabric as obtainable trough said process, and to a garment comprising it.

Carbon black for waterborne coatings

An aqueous carbon black millbase, an aqueous carbon black liquid coating, and a method of making the millbase and liquid coating are provided. The carbon blacks are modified carbon blacks that are engineered to be able to be stirred into an aqueous vehicle without high energy milling of the carbon black. The modified carbon blacks include low organic treatment levels and the millbase and liquid coating do not require large quantities of dispersant. The resulting coatings exhibit excellent viscosity, color, hiding power and stability.

Provided are a method for producing an aqueous inkjet pigment dispersion, including producing a mixed liquid of water, a pigment, a pigment dispersing polymer, and rosin acid in an amount of from 3% by mass to 30% by mass relative to the total mass of the pigment, and reducing the amount of rosin acid included in the produced mixed liquid, to less than 3.0% by mass relative to the total mass of the pigment; an aqueous inkjet pigment dispersion; and an aqueous inkjet ink.

Preparation of high solid yellow pigment slurry

A method for forming a pigmented aqueous slurry includes a step of combining a dispersant having pigment affinic groups with water to form an aqueous dispersant mixture. Pigment is added to the aqueous dispersant mixture to form an aqueous pigment mixture. The aqueous pigment composition is ground until the average particle size is less than 30 microns to form a pigmented aqueous slurry.

There are provided an aqueous pigment dispersion containing a pigment, hydrophilic fumed silica, and an aqueous medium; an ink jet recording ink containing such an aqueous pigment dispersion; and a printed article using the aqueous pigment dispersion. The average particle size of the hydrophilic fumed silica is preferably not more than 250 nm. The amount of the hydrophilic fumed silica is preferably in the range of 20 to 300 mass % relative to the amount of the pigment. The amount of the pigment is preferably in the range of 0.5 to 30 mass % relative to the amount of the whole aqueous pigment dispersion.

Environmentally friendly colorant compositions and latex paints/coatings

The invention relates to colorant compositions, and aqueous latex paints or other water-borne coatings made from them, which have a mitigated environmental impact. Levels of solvents, additives and impurities comprising volatile non-aqueous constituents, alkylphenol ethoxylates (and derivatives thereof), crystalline silica, and/or formaldehyde are decreased relative to those typical of preceding generations of colorants and tinted aqueous latex paints and other water-borne coatings. On the other hand, paint-performance as indicated by any of Stormer viscosity stabilization, rheological profile flow/leveling and sag resistance, water sensitivity and color transfer resistance is comparable to a paint in which the aforementioned solvents, additives and impurities are still present.
