OLEOPHILIC AND HYDROPHOBIC NANOCELLULOSE MATERIALS
20230055478 · 2023-02-23 ·

An oleophilic and hydrophobic nanocellulose material is disclosed herein, for nanocellulose sponges and other applications. The oleophilic and hydrophobic nanocellulose material comprises lignin-coated cellulose nanofibrils and/or lignin-coated cellulose nanocrystals. In various embodiments, the nanocellulose material is in the form of a 2D coating or layer, or a 3D object (e.g., foam or aerogel). The nanocellulose material may be disposed onto a scaffold. A process is provided for producing an oleophilic and hydrophobic nanocellulose object, comprising fractionating a biomass feedstock with an acid, a solvent for lignin, and water, to generate cellulose-rich solids and a lignin-containing liquor; mechanically treating the cellulose-rich solids to form cellulose fibrils and/or cellulose crystals; generating a nanocellulose object from the intermediate nanocellulose material; exposing the nanocellulose object to the lignin-containing liquor to allow lignin to deposit onto a surface of the nanocellulose object; and recovering the oleophilic and hydrophobic nanocellulose object.

CELLULOSE ACETATE RESIN COMPOSITION

A cellulose acetate resin composition may include a cellulose acetate (A) having a total degree of acetyl substitution of 2.60 or less; a filler (B); and a plasticizer (C). The filler (B) may be selected from the group consisting of (b1) a predetermined inorganic compound, (b2) a predetermined metal salt, (b3) cellulose or hemicellulose, and (b4) wood flour. The plasticizer (C) may he selected from (c1) a glycerin ester-based plasticizer, (c2) an ether-based plasticizer, and (c3) a glycol ester-based plasticizer. A content of the component (A) may he from 4.5 to 90 mass %. A total content of the component (B) may be from 5 to 50 mass %. A total content of the component (C) may be from 5 to 35 mass %.

WATER-BASED PAINT, CERAMICS, AND METHOD OF DECORATION

Ceramics are capable of reducing color irregularities and uneven coating, hard to dissolve into glaze, and excellent in fixation. A water-based paint contains a coloring material, first cellulose nanofibers having a lignin content of 20 to 40 mass % and a water retention of 150 to 300%, and second cellulose nanofibers having a higher viscosity compared to the first cellulose nanofibers, and the water-based paint has a B-type viscosity of 600 cps or higher. Ceramic ware or glassware or the like having painting made on a green body of which surface is formed of silicic acid or silicate compound as a main component, with the water-based paint.
