Drier compositions for alkyd resins
The present invention relates to a drier composition (DC) for use in a coating composition preferably in an autoxidizable alkyd based coating composition (AC). The drier composition (DC) comprises: (a) At least one metal complex (MC) comprising: at least one metal salt (MS) comprising at least one metal cation (M) which is selected from the group consisting of iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) and at least one anion (AN) and at least one nitrogen donor ligand (L) which is selected from the group comprising monodentate, bidentate, tridentate, pentadentate, and hexadentate nitrogen donor ligands, and (b) at least one non-ionic emulsifier (E). The present invention is further directed to an autoxizable alkyd based coating composition (AC) comprising said drier composition (DC), to the use of said autoxizable alkyd based coating composition (AC) and also to a substrate coated with said autoxizable alkyd based coating composition (AC).

AQUEOUS ALKYD DISPERSIONS WITH IMPROVED APPLICATION PERFORMANCES IN TERMS OF RESISTANCE TO BLOCKING AND YELLOWING, HARDNESS DEVELOPMENT AND SHINE
The present invention relates to aqueous alkyd resin dispersions comprising a) a short oil alkyd resin comprising, in its fatty acid component a1), at least one polyunsaturated fatty monoacid a11) having at least two unsaturations per molecule and comprising at least 35% by weight of a monoacid a111) having conjugated unsaturations, the content by weight of said fatty monoacid a111), with respect to said alkyd resin, being at least 5%, preferably from 5% to 40% and more preferably from 5% to 35%, and b) at least one anionic phosphate surfactant. The invention also covers a preparation process and its use in decorative coatings. The coatings based on these aqueous dispersions exhibit improved performance qualities in resistance to blocking and yellowing, in development of hardness and in gloss.

The invention concerns a composition for use as drier in auto-oxidizable coatings or as accelerator in unsaturated polyester resins, comprising a manganese-bearing polymer having a manganese dicarboxylate repeating unit and at least one nitrogen-containing donor ligand. Such compositions offer excellent drying performances. They ensure a strongly reduced leachability of manganese compared to that of known manganese-bearing driers.

The invention relates to a hydroxylated and/or carboxylated polyester resin, which comprises, in its structure, ester units formed from a polyol component a) comprising at least one polyol al) chosen from hydroxylated and/or epoxidized fatty acid triglycerides of general formula (I): R-CO2-(H)C-(CH2-CO2-R)2 (I) with R being the residue radical without a carboxyl group of a hydroxylated and/or epoxidized fatty acid RCO2H with R comprising from 13 to 21 carbon atoms and at least one hydroxyl and/or epoxy group. The invention also relates to a crosslinkable coating composition in an organic solvent medium comprising said resin, just like the coating which results from this use.
