Preparation of 7XXX aluminum alloys for adhesive bonding
A preparation method for adhesive bonding of magnesium-containing aluminum alloy products includes a magnesium-containing aluminum alloy product including a matrix and a surface oxide layer overlying the matrix. The magnesium-containing aluminum alloy product also includes intermetallic particles at least proximal the surface oxide layer. The method also includes ablating at least some of the intermetallic particles via an energy source, and in the absence of melting of the matrix of the magnesium-containing aluminum alloy product.
Primers For Use With Solvent Cements
Provided are primer formulations for solvent cement bonding comprising cyclopentanone and, optionally, at least one additional organic solvent. The primer formulations are effective for solvent cement bonding plastic components together, wherein the plastic components may include ABS, PVC, or CPVC pipes and/or fittings.

Surface modifier composition and adhesion method
An object of the present invention is to provide a surface modifier composition that is capable of performing surface modification of various types of hardly adhesive materials, and of improving adhesion with respect to various types of hardly adhesive materials, and an adhesion method using the same. The present invention relates to a surface modifier composition, containing: an (A) component: a hydrogen abstraction type radical initiator; a (B) component: a silane compound having a hydrolyzable silyl group, and one or more functional groups which are at least one type of functional group selected from the group consisting of radical polymerizable functional groups and mercapto groups; and a (C) component: at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a (C1) specific silane compound and a (C2) condensation reaction catalyst, in which the surface modifier composition is used in surface modification of an adherend containing a resin having a hydrocarbon bond.
Surface modifier composition and adhesion method
An object of the present invention is to provide a surface modifier composition that is capable of performing surface modification of various types of hardly adhesive materials, and of improving adhesion with respect to various types of hardly adhesive materials, and an adhesion method using the same. Method for adhering cured silicones to low energy plastics and composite prepared by the method
A primer is useful for adhering cured silicones to low energy plastic substrates. The primer is prepared from starting materials including a) an organoboron compound capable of forming a free radical generating species, and at least one of b) an organosilicon compound having, per molecule, at least one free radical reactive group and at least one other reactive group, and/or c) an organoborane liberating compound capable of reacting with starting material a) to liberate the free radical generating species. The method for forming the primer may further include use of d) an organic solvent, and e) a free radical polymerizable monomer, oligomer, macromonomer, or polymer.
Method for adhering cured silicones to low energy plastics and composite prepared by the method
A primer is useful for adhering cured silicones to low energy plastic substrates. The primer is prepared from starting materials including a) an organoboron compound capable of forming a free radical generating species, and at least one of b) an organosilicon compound having, per molecule, at least one free radical reactive group and at least one other reactive group, and/or c) an organoborane liberating compound capable of reacting with starting material a) to liberate the free radical generating species. The method for forming the primer may further include use of d) an organic solvent, and e) a free radical polymerizable monomer, oligomer, macromonomer, or polymer.
Moisture Curable Adhesive Compositions
A moisture curable composition, and a method of application and a substrate including the same are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a curable composition includes a component (A) comprising an organic polymer containing reactive silicon groups represented by the general formula (1), a component (B) comprising an organic polymer having a viscosity lower than 10,000 cP at 23° C. containing reactive silicon groups represented by the general formula (2), and a component (C) comprising a polyolefin polymer. The moisture curable composition has universal adhesiveness to an adhesion-resistant substrate, such as PVC, EPDM, and TPO. The substrates can be smooth-back or fleece-back substrates.
