The chain includes a bottom stop. At least one of the tapes is provided with an extension portion which extends beyond a bottom stop portion of the tape. A width of the extension portion is less than a width of a portion of the tape which does not form part of the extension portion.

The first superficial region extends over and covers the slit or interface, and has a thickness defined between the first surface and an end of the slit or interface at the side of the first surface.
