Described is an adhesive coating that can be applied, for example, to a surface of the insulation product. The adhesive coating includes between about 15-40% by weight of the adhesive coating of at least one of polystyrene-maleic anhydride (SMA) and polyacrylic acid (PAA), between about 15 and 50% by weight of the adhesive coating of a polyvinyl alcohol, between about 0.05% and 1.0% by weight of a homogenizer, and between about 20 and 40% by weight of the adhesive coating of a starch paste. The adhesive is activated with the application of liquid water.

Adhesive bonding of beam and node assemblies

An assembly and a method are provided for manufacturing a joined assembly. A method for manufacturing includes fitting together and datuming a beam and a node, wherein at least one of the beam and the node is formed with an aperture, and wherein a cylindrical interface is formed between the beam and node. Further, the method includes advancing a mechanical fastener through the aperture to temporarily hold the beam and the node in an engagement. Also, the method includes injecting a structural adhesive into the cylindrical interface between the beam and the node. The method includes final joining the beam and the node by curing the structural adhesive.

The present invention relates to hot melt adhesives comprising propylene-based homopolymers and more particularly to a hot melt adhesive composition comprising a blend of at least two metallocene catalyzed polypropylene (PP)-based polymers having different viscosities and ethylene-based copolymers. The hot melt adhesives of the present invention exhibit thermal resistance to aging and high and low temperature resistance which allows them to adhere different substrates.

A curing resin composition useful as an adhesive excellent in impact resistance, heat resistance, and water resistance is provided. The composition contains (A) an epoxy resin, (B) a blocked urethane, and (C) an amine latent curing agent. The blocked urethane (B) has a weight average molecular weight Mw of 15,000 to 38,000 and a ratio of weight average molecular weight Mw to number average molecular weight Mn, Mw/Mn, of 1.9 to 3.0. The epoxy resin (A) is preferably a bisphenol epoxy resin. The blocked urethane (B) preferably contains a blocked urethane having an oxybutylene group and a blocked urethane having an oxypropylene group.

Roofing systems are provided. A roofing system comprises a roofing substrate, and a roofing membrane located on the roofing substrate. The roofing membrane comprises a first layer, and a second layer located between the first layer and the roofing substrate. The second layer comprises an adhesive. The adhesive adheres the roofing membrane to the roofing substrate. The adhesive comprises a sufficient amount of fire retardant such that, when the adhesive is located between the roofing membrane and a plywood substrate, a force required to peel the roofing membrane from the plywood substrate, at 180 at a 2/min pulling speed in accordance with ASTM D413, is at least 10% greater than a force required for a control adhesive that does not comprise a fire retardant, or the adhesive exhibits a burn time of less than 15 seconds when tested according to UL 94. Related systems, methods, and materials are also provided.
