The adhesive layer includes (i) a functionalized ethylene-based polymer having a melt index from 0.1 g/10 min to 300 g/10 min; (ii) from 0.01 wt % to 45 wt % of a functionalized hydrocarbon; (iii) a tackifier; and (iv) optionally, a crosslinking agent.
BONDING HIGHLY-FLUORINATED PLASTICS TO ELASTOMERS USING SILANE-BASED PRIMERS
Methods of bonding highly-fluorinated thermoplastics to elastomers are described. The methods include apply primers comprising at least one aromatic silane and at least one amino-silane to an uncured elastomer and irradiating the primer with actinic radiation before or after applying the highly-fluorinated thermoplastics. The elastomer may then be cured to provide articles having good adhesion between the highly-fluorinated thermoplastic and the cured elastomer.
PEEL-AND-STICK ROOFING MEMBRANES AND METHODS FOR FORMING FULLY-ADHERED ROOFING SYSTEMS
A method of installing a roof system, the method comprising (i) providing a first membrane composite including a polymeric planar body having first and second planar surfaces, a UV-cured pressure-sensitive adhesive layer disposed on the second planar surface, a release member removably secured to the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer opposite the planar body; and a primer layer disposed along a lap area on the first planar surface; (ii) adhesively securing the first membrane composite to a roof surface through the UV-cured pressure-sensitive adhesive layer; (iii) providing a second membrane composite including a polymeric planar body having first and second planar surfaces, a UV-cured pressure-sensitive adhesive layer disposed on the second planar surface, a release member removably secured to the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer opposite the planar body; and optionally including a primer layer disposed along a lap area on the first planar surface; (iv) adhesively securing the second membrane composite to the roof surface through the UV-cured pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, where the second membrane composite is positioned adjacent to and partially overlapping the lap area of the first membrane composite; and (v) adhesively securing the second membrane composite to the first planar surface of the first membrane composite along the primer layer through the UV-cured pressure-sensitive adhesive layer disposed on the second membrane composite.
FILM BACKINGS FOR STRETCH RELEASE MOUNTING
The present disclosure generally relates to stretch-releasable adhesive articles that are capable of attaching or adhering to a substrate and that can be removed from the substrate without causing damage to the substrate. The present disclosure also generally relates to methods of making and using such adhesive articles.
Two-Component Polyurethane Adhesive
The present disclosure relates to a two-component polyurethane adhesive, based on a polyol component A and a polyisocyanate component B. The two-component polyurethane adhesive exhibits fast cure speed, good adhesion properties and good durability. The two-component polyurethane adhesive is developed for the adhesion adhesion of substrates, wherein the substrates are preferably selected from the group comprising sheet molding compounds (SMCs) and plastic substrates.
Cure of anaerobic compositions
A bonding system for bonding a plastic substrate to another substrate, the bonding system comprising a plastic substrate wherein the plastic substrate is impregnated with a transition metal; and an anaerobically curable composition. Cure of the anaerobically curable composition is initiatable by the transition metal when the anaerobically curable composition is contacted with the plastic substrate under anaerobic conditions.
MULTILAYER COMPOSITE WITH DUAL LAYER PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE
A multilayer composite containing a polymeric membrane, a hot-melt adhesive layer A, a hot-melt adhesive layer B; and a release liner, wherein the hot-melt adhesive layer A comprises a non-ultraviolet (UV) curable pressure-sensitive adhesive; wherein the hot-melt adhesive layer B comprises a ultraviolet (UV) curable pressure-sensitive adhesive that is at least partially cured; wherein the hot-melt adhesive layer A has a thickness of from 25 to 250 ?m, and wherein the hot-melt adhesive layer B has a thickness of from 50 to 250 ?m. The invention further relates to a process to make the composite and to use the composite as a roofing material.
AQUEOUS ADHESIVE COMPOSITION COMPRISING A THERMOSETTING RESIN AND A LATEX
An aqueous adhesive composition comprises A) a thermosetting resin and B) an unsaturated elastomer latex. The thermosetting resin is based on: at least one aromatic compound bearing at least two functions, one of these functions being a hydroxymethyl function and the other being an aldehyde function or a hydroxymethyl function, the aromatic compound comprising at least one aromatic ring; and at least aromatic polyphenol comprising at least one aromatic ring bearing at least two hydroxyl functions in the meta position relative to one another, the two positions ortho to at least one of the hydroxyl functions being unsubstituted; and/or at least one aromatic monophenol comprising at least one six-membered aromatic ring bearing a single hydroxyl function, the two positions ortho to the hydroxyl function being unsubstituted, or at least one position ortho to and the position para to the hydroxyl function being unsubstituted.
Pretreatment of substrates that have unsaturated units
A method for treating substrates, including applying a composition, which includes at least one latent alkyl borane and is substantially free of decomplexing agents for the latent alkyl borane, to a substrate (1) that has a material having unsaturated units, applying a radically curable substance to the substrate (1) pretreated with the latent alkyl borane, and allowing the radically curable substance to cure in order to form a composite structure. The method is suitable in particular for applying paints, coatings, or sealing materials/filling materials to substrates, such as EPDM, NBR, and SBR, and for adhesively bonding such substrates. Composite materials adhesively bonded accordingly are distinguished by especially firm adhesion of the adhesive to the substrate, wherein conventional adhesives can be used, which have optimized properties with regard to the storage stability, open time, and cure time thereof.
Two-component, water-based lamination adhesive and use of the same to bond substrates and foams
A water comprising, two component polyurethane dispersion adhesive comprising an anionic polyester polyurethane resin and a solvent-free liquid aliphatic polyisocyanate cross-linker.
