Consumer product attachment systems having a locking assembly

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a locking assembly for an attachment system of an electronic device. More specifically, embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to an attachment unit that is configured to be inserted and removed from a housing of a consumer product. The attachment unit and/or the housing includes a catch member or other such locking assembly configured to releasably secure the attachment unit within the housing.

Attachment system for an electronic device

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a removable module and a housing for an attachment system of a consumer product. The removable module includes a locking mechanism comprising a first portion having a substantially planar top surface and second portion that comprises a substantially non-planar bottom surface. The first portion and the second portion are coupled together. The locking mechanism also includes a first spring mechanism coupled between the first portion and the second portion. The first spring mechanism causes the first portion to be biased away from the second portion. The locking mechanism also includes a second spring mechanism. The second spring mechanism causes the substantially planar top surface of the first portion to be biased substantially flush with respect to the removable module and also causes the substantially non-planar bottom surface of the second portion to be biased proud with respect to the removable module.

ATTACHMENT SYSTEMS FOR ELECTRONIC DEVICES

Attachment systems for attaching a wearable electronic device to a user including a sizing band and a retaining band are disclosed. The sizing band includes at least one sizing eyelet and a band-insertable end. The retaining band includes at least a post for insertion into the sizing eyelet of the sizing band and a concealment aperture configured to receive the band-insertable end of the sizing band. On a bottom surface of the retaining band can be a recessed guide bed configured to guide the band-insertable end along the bottom surface of the retaining band. A wearable electronic device can couple to both the sizing band and the retaining band by accepting an end portion of each band into receiving channels extending into opposite sidewalls of the housing.

The assembly includes a watch, a watchband, a tracking device and a flexible retaining part formed to engage the watchband and to retain the watch and the tracking device. The part has a cylindrical shape wall with an open top edge spaced from an inwardly extending collar to define a recess to receive the tracking device. Frist and second arcuate wall extensions are connected by a member and define aligned openings through which the tracking device can be inserted into the retaining part, and which are adapted to receive the watchband. When the watch is situated in the top of the part, the tracking device is situated in the collar in the interior surface of the retaining part, and the watchband is inserted through the align openings, the tracking device is securely retained between the watchband and the watch. The watchband may be a slap watchband.

Attachment mechanism architectures for a watch band

A watch band can provide both a physical connection and an electrical connection with a watch body of a watch. The watch band is fixed relative to the watch body and an electrical connection is either performed either simultaneously or shortly thereafter. The electrical connection enables data and power transfer between the watch body and the watch band. The electrical connection can also be performed by a secondary user interaction. Secondary user inactions can involve the user sliding, pulling, pushing, or rotating a portion of the watch band or watch body.
