LOW TEMPERATURE CURE SILICONE RELEASE COATINGS
Organopolysiloxane release coatings employing a higher molecular weight organopolysiloxane crosslinker having Si—H groups on not more than 67 mol percent of all siloxy groups of the organopolysiloxane crosslinker, and a lower molecular weight aliphatically unsaturated organopolysiloxane, cured by hydrosilylation with a hydrosilylation catalyst, produce strongly anchored release coatings which are able to be cured for shorter times and/or lower temperatures, and still offer a lower level of extractables than advanced release coatings employing precrosslinked unsaturated silicones.
CURABLE SILICONE RELEASE COMPOSITION
Provided is a silicone composition having components (A) to (E):100 parts by mass of (A) a linear, branched, or network organopolysiloxane having a vinyl value of 0.01 mol/100 g or more and 0.04 mol/100 g or less and a viscosity of 100 mm.sup.2/sec or more and 500 mm.sup.2/sec or less at 25° C., wherein each of terminals of the organopolysiloxane has one or more alkenyl groups; 0.01 to 3 parts by mass of (B) a linear, branched, or network organopolysiloxane having a vinyl value of 0.2 mol/100 g or more and 1.2 mol/100 g or less and a viscosity of 2 mm.sup.2/sec or more and 60 mm.sup.2/sec or less at 25° C., wherein each of terminals of the organopolysiloxane has one or more alkenyl groups; (C) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane having an amount of 1 mol/100 g or more and 2 mol/100 g or less of an SiH group, wherein a ratio of the number of the SiH group in component (C) to a total number of the alkenyl groups in components (A) and (B) is 1 to 5; 0.01 to 10 parts by mass of (D) an addition-reaction control agent, relative to total 100 parts by mass of components (A), (B), and (C); and a catalytic amount of (E) a platinum group metal catalyst.
CURABLE ORGANOPOLYSILOXANE RELEASE AGENT COMPOSITION FOR THERMAL PAPER, THERMAL PAPER, AND THERMAL RECORDING LABEL SHEET
Provided is a curable organopolysiloxane releasing agent composition for a thermally sensitive paper wherein a releasing layer that has high adhesion and a good peeling force that is cured quickly at a low temperature without producing curing failures when coated on a thermally sensitive coloring layer, and that is resistant to gellification at room temperature, and that has superior ease of handling, can be formed. The curable organopolysiloxane releasing agent composition comprises: (A) one or more organopolysiloxanes having an alkenyl group with a number of carbon atoms between 4 and 12, where the inclusion proportion of vinyl (CH.sub.2═CH—) within the alkenyl group is between 0.5 and 3.0 mass %; (B) an organohydrodiene polysiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms (Si—H) in a single molecule; (C) a hydrosilylation reaction catalyst; and (D) a hydrosilylation reaction inhibiting agent.
ORGANOPOLYSILOXANE COMPOSITION FOR FORMING PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE LAYER, AND USE OF SAME
A curable organopolysiloxane composition is provided which forms a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) layer having a relatively low storage elastic modulus (G′) at low temperatures, excellent curability, and sufficient adhesion for practical use. A PSA layer-forming organopolysiloxane composition comprises: (A) a chain organopolysiloxane having alkenyl groups; (B) an organopolysiloxane resin which has a content of 9 moles or less of hydroxyl groups and the like is a mixture of (b1) an organopolysiloxane resin having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of 4500 or more and (b2) an organopolysiloxane resin having a Mw of less than 4500; (C) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane; and (D) a hydrosilylation reaction catalyst. The mass ratio of component (B) to component (A) is within a range of 0.9 to 2.0, and the shear storage elastic modulus G′ at −20° C. of a PSA layer obtained by curing the composition is within a range of 0.01 to 0.75 MPa.
RELEASE LINER FOR REPOSITIONABLE ADHESIVE ARTICLES
The present invention relates to a release liner, an adhesive article comprising the same, a process for producing the release liner, and a process for decorating an object using the adhesive article. According to an embodiment, the release liner comprises a carrier substrate (10), a thermoplastic polymer layer (20) applied on one side of the carrier substrate (10), and a release layer (30) applied on the thermoplastic polymer layer (20) on the side opposite to the carrier substrate (10). The thermoplastic polymer layer (20) and the release layer (30) include a network of ridges (25), which result in elevations of the surface of the release liner on the side of the release layer. The surface on the side of the release layer (30) has a roughness at least between the ridges (25), such that it has a plurality of pits (1, 2, 3). The average number of pits (1, 2, 3) per an area of 3.4 mm.sup.2 of the plan view of the release liner surface is at least 50 as determined with a confocal 3D laser scanning microscope at a magnification of 100. The pits (1, 2, 3) extend at least to a level of 10.0 μm above the deepest point of the deepest pit (1) within said area of 3.4 mm2.
PHOTOCURABLE SILICONE COMPOSITIONS AND PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURE OF RELEASE LINERS
A photocurable silicone composition, a method of forming a coating from such compositions, and an article comprising a coating formed from such compositions and/or methods are shown and described herein. The photocurable silicone composition comprises (i) a vinyl functional polysiloxane; (ii) a hydride functional polysiloxane; (iii) a photoactive catalyst; and (iv) an acid-anhydride functional polysiloxane. The composition and method can be employed to process thin coatings onto paper and film substrates followed by exposure to actinic radiation at ambient conditions of temperature and atmosphere for manufacture of release liners.

One exemplary embodiment of a method of forming a wrapping web assembly includes the steps of: providing a substantially continuous web of a wrapping material; providing an elongate tape stock comprising an adhesive tape portion having a release surface, and a double sided adhesive tape portion releasably adhered to said release surface; feeding said substantially continuous web of a wrapping material past a laminating station to an accumulator spool adapted to spool said web about an axis transverse its substantially continuous direction; feeding said elongate tape stock to said laminating station and cutting the elongate tape stock into discrete tape assemblies; adhering said discrete tape assemblies substantially transversely in spaced relation on one surface of said web; and spooling said web to said accumulator spool whereby an exposed adhesive layer of the tape assembly adheres in the spool to the other surface of the web.

The first film includes a sealant layer containing (A) an ethylene-based polymer; and (B) a slip agent blend containing (i) a first polydimethylsiloxane having a number average molecular weight (Mn) from 30,000 g/mol to less than 300,000 g/mol; and (ii) a second polydimethylsiloxane having a number average molecular weight (Mn) from 300,000 g/mol to 2,000,000 g/mol.
