The first release layer may include a silicone-based material and may be non-photo-curable.

SILICONE EMULSION COMPOSITION

An addition reaction-curable silicone emulsion composition containing a water-soluble silane coupling agent (I) and an organopolysiloxane (II) having at least two alkenyl groups in one molecule thereof, where the water-soluble silane coupling agent (I) has at least one group selected from among a succinic anhydride group, a quaternary ammonium group, and a ureido group, and 1 part by mass or more of the water-soluble silane coupling agent (I) is contained relative to 100 parts by mass of the organopolysiloxane (II). This provides: a silicone emulsion composition that gives a cured film adhering well to plastic film substrates regardless of the type, while having suitable release properties regarding adhesives; and a delamination film made by forming a cured film of the silicone emulsion composition.

Coating Composition

A coating composition is provided. The coating composition of the present application has excellent compatibility between the components. In addition, there is an advantage that the release layer formed from the coating composition of the present application has low transmittance for light having a wavelength of 380 nm or more.

SILICONE COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING ACRYLATE CURE ACCELERATOR

Compositions are disclosed which include between about 0.05 to about 5 or less wt. % of at least one acrylate monomer based on the total weight of the composition. The acrylate monomer reduces the peak cure temperature, thereby accelerating the rate of cure, without sacrificing completeness of the cure or the release performance of the cured product. The addition of the acrylate monomer also enables a reduction in the amount of costly platinum catalyst required to effectively cure a composition. In addition to the acrylate monomer, the compositions also include a silicone base polymer, a crosslinking agent, and platinum catalyst. The cured compositions exhibit properties useful for incorporation into release liners, adhesive articles, medical products and gaskets.

PROCESS FOR PREPARING FREE-RADICAL CURED SILICONE RELEASE COATINGS

A method can be used for curing and/or manufacturing silicone-coated release liners, which can be used in the production of pressure sensitive, peel-and-stick labels. The corresponding silicone release coatings are curable by LED. A method for preparing silicone release coatings and curing such coatings can be performed with or without the need for nitrogen inerting or the addition of oxygen scavengers.

Release Liners and Articles Including Them

Release liners that can be included in various adhesive products are provided. A first release liner is a layer of a composition including a) a polymeric material having at least one hydrogen atom covalently bonded to an oxygen atom, a nitrogen atom, or a sulfur atom; and b) a silicone polyether comprising at least one of polyoxoethylene units or polyoxopropylene units. A second release liner includes a substrate and a coating of the above composition disposed on a major surface of the substrate. The present disclosure also provides an article including one of the above release liners and an adhesive layer disposed on a major surface of the release liner. The composition of the release liner can advantageously be dissolved and optionally recycled.

Multilayer laminates are described which include one or more layers or regions of printed images or graphics captured under an outer adhesive layer. The laminates include two layers of a release coating applied to opposite faces of a support layer. Also described are systems and methods for applying wound rolls of the multilayer laminates to a collection of articles.

In accordance with the present application, there is provided a release liner and method of preparing a liner for a label assembly. The release liner includes paper having a first side that does not have a machine finish or gloss finish or a coating; and a silicone treatment applied to the first side of the paper. The method of preparing a liner for a label assembly includes applying a coat of silicone to a paper at a side of the paper that does not have a machine finish or gloss finish and is otherwise uncoated; and curing the silicone. The release liner includes paper having a silicone coat weight of 0.5 lb/ream or less.
