Mixture with pozzolanic material for controlling annular pressure-buildup in a wellbore
A treatment fluid can be provided for controlling annular pressure-buildup in a wellbore. The treatment fluid can include a base fluid and a pozzolanic material that can be dispersed within the base fluid. The pozzolanic material can cause the treatment fluid to controllably consolidate in an annulus of the wellbore for controlling annular pressure-buildup in the wellbore.
METHOD OF ARTIFICIALLY REDUCING POROSITY
The present invention relates to artificially reducing the porosity of any potential flow paths in the near-wellbore region of a well or in permeable zones within or surrounding a well. In doing so, the permeability in this the targeted region will be significantly reduced, thus, preventing unwanted flow of subsurface fluids. The present invention concerns a method comprising applying a first and second solution comprising scale precursors to the porous media, wherein following this application, at least a portion of the scale precursors form at least two insoluble salts. Additionally, the present invention concerns a kit of parts comprising the first and second solutions.
METHOD FOR TREATING A SUBTERRANEAN FORMATION BY INJECTING AN AQUEOUS GELLING SOLUTION COMPRISING AN ALUMINATE
The present invention relates to a method for sealing and/or consolidating a subterranean formation, wherein a gelling aqueous solution comprising an alkaline solution of potassium silicate, acetic acid and an aluminate is prepared and injected into the subterranean formation.
DOWNHOLE APPARATUS AND METHOD
A method of conditioning a well bore featuring an annulus (50) between a bore-lining tubing (20) and a surrounding bore wall (110) comprises pumping conditioning fluid through an inner tubing (10) located within the bore-lining tubing (20) and into a portion of the well bore containing the bore-lining tubing to affect the temperature of the portion of the well bore containing the bore-lining tubing. The annulus (50) between the bore-lining tubing (20) and the surrounding bore wall (110) is at least partially filled with settable material (54). The affected temperature of the portion of the well bore containing the bore-lining tubing influences the setting of the settable material. For example, heating the bore may accelerate setting of the material, while cooling the bore may retard setting of the material.
INDUSTRIAL FLUIDS WITH DILUTION RESISTANCE AND TUNABLE VISCOSITY, AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING INDUSTRIAL FLUIDS
Disclosed herein are compositions and methods for increasing the viscosity of a calcium-containing fluid by addition of a modifying agent. The resulting enhanced viscosity fluid may be used in a variety of applications including drilling, to create an enhanced-viscosity fluid, and demolition/mining to create an expansive putty for use in underwater and overhead applications.
WELL TREATMENT
Methods of treating a subterranean formation penetrated by a well bore, by providing a treatment fluid comprising non-homogeneous particulates including a degradable material and a hydrolysis catalyst; by introducing the treatment fluid into the well bore; and by creating a plug with the treatment fluid.
SELF-DEGRADATION SWELLING DIVERTER SYSTEM
A method including introducing a treatment fluid into a subterranean formation having a downhole temperature in the range of between about 60° C. to about 95° C. The treatment fluid comprises an aqueous fluid, a swelling agent, and an oxidizing agent. Forming a diverter plug at a first permeable zone in the subterranean formation with the swelling agent, and breaking at least a portion of the swelling agent with the oxidizing agent.
Nanoparticle modified fluids and methods of manufacture thereof
Disclosed herein is a nanoparticle modified fluid that includes nanoparticles that are surface modified to increase a viscosity of the nanoparticle modified fluid and that have at least one dimension that is less than or equal to about 50 nanometers; nanoparticles that are surface modified to increase a viscosity of the nanoparticle modified fluid and that have at least one dimension that is less than or equal to about 70 nanometers; and a liquid carrier; wherein the nanoparticle modified fluid exhibits a viscosity above that of a comparative nanoparticle modified fluid that contains the same nanoparticles but whose surfaces are not modified, when both nanoparticle modified fluids are tested at the same shear rate and temperature.
Downhole methods
A method for the fracking or stimulation of a hydrocarbon-bearing formation, said method comprising the steps of: providing a wellbore in need of stimulation; inserting a plug in the wellbore at a predetermined location; inserting a perforating tool and a spearhead or breakdown acid into the wellbore; positioning the tool at said predetermined location; perforating the wellbore with the tool thereby creating a perforated area; allowing the spearhead acid to come into contact with the perforated area for a predetermined period of time sufficient to prepare the formation for fracking or stimulation; removing the tool from the wellbore; and initiating the fracking of the perforated area using a fracking fluid. Also disclosed is a corrosion inhibiting composition for use with the acid composition.
