An organic light-emitting material contains a 6-silyl-substituted isoquinoline ligand. The organic light-emitting material is a metal complex containing a 6-silyl-substituted isoquinoline ligand and may be used as a light-emitting material in a light-emitting layer of an organic electroluminescent device. These new complexes can provide redder and saturated emission and meanwhile demonstrate a significantly improved lifetime and efficient and excellent device performance. Further disclosed are an electroluminescent device and a compound formulation including the metal complex.

The invention relates to novel fluorescent dyes with multiple negatively charged groups in their ionized form which are 9-aminoacridines or 1-aminopyrene shaving of one of the following general formulae A-E: or salts or protonated forms thereof, wherein the ionizable groups are typically selected from the following: OH, SH, COOH, SO.sub.3H, OSO.sub.3H, SO.sub.2NHCN, P(O)(OH).sub.2, P(O) (OH).sub.2. The invention further relates to the use of these dyes as fluorescent tags, in particular for reducing sugars and glycans, and to carbohydrate-dye conjugates comprising these dyes as well as to methods for preparing the same.

In the formula, the ring a is represented by a formula (1a), X is NR, S, O or CR.sub.2, and Ar.sup.1 and Ar.sup.2 are an aromatic heterocyclic group represented by a formula (1b). Y is N or CR, and at least one is N. L.sup.1 is an aromatic hydrocarbon group. The material for the organic electroluminescent devices is suitable as material for the host of the light emitting layer or the hole blocking layer of organic EL devices.

In the compound represented by the formulas (1-1) and (1-3), at least one of R.sub.5 to R.sub.7 and R.sub.14 to R.sub.16 is —N(R.sub.36)(R.sub.37), and in the compound represented by the formulas (1-2) and (1-3), at least one of R.sub.2 to R.sub.16 is —N(R.sub.36)(R.sub.37).
