HIGH ASPECT RATIO LAYERED DOUBLE HYDROXIDE MATERIALS AND METHODS FOR PREPARATION THEREOF
Embodiments are directed to adamantane-intercalated layered double-hydroxide (LDH) particles and the methods of producing adamantane-intercalated LDH particles. The method comprises adding to an aqueous solution a first precursor and a second precursor to form an initial mixture, where the first precursor is Al(OH).sub.3 or Al.sub.2O.sub.3, the second precursor is a hydroxide M(OH).sub.2 or an oxide MO, where M is a metal of oxidation state +2; and the initial mixture has a M/Al molar ratio of from 1 to 5. The method also comprises adding to the initial mixture an amount of adamantane to form a reaction mixture having an Al/adamantane molar ratio of from 0.5 to 2; and heating the reaction mixture to produce adamantane-intercalated LDH particles, where the adamantane-intercalated LDH particles have aspect ratios greater than 100.

Embodiments are directed to adamantane-intercalated layered double-hydroxide (LDH) particles and the methods of producing adamantane-intercalated LDH particles. The method also comprises adding to the initial mixture an amount of adamantane to form a reaction mixture having an Al/adamantane molar ratio of from 0.5 to 2; and heating the reaction mixture to produce adamantane-intercalated LDH particles, where the adamantane-intercalated LDH particles have aspect ratios greater than 100.
NOVEL MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE-BASED SOLID SOLUTION, AND RESIN COMPOSITION AND PRECURSOR FOR HIGHLY ACTIVE MAGNESIUM OXIDE WHICH INCLUDE SAME
[Problem] To provide a magnesium hydroxide-based solid solution which has smaller primary particles and secondary particles and improved reactivity with an acid as compared with conventional magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH).sub.2), improves the flame retardancy and mechanical strength of a resin, and also forms a non-sedimenting slurry, providing the same handleability as a liquid.
[Structure] A magnesium hydroxide-based solid solution represented by the following formula (1): Mg(OH).sub.2-xR.sub.x (Formula 1), wherein R represents a monovalent organic acid, and x represents 0<x<1. The magnesium hydroxide-based solid solution is a magnesium oxide (MgO) precursor. A flame retardant for a synthetic resin, including the magnesium hydroxide-based solid solution as an active ingredient. A synthetic resin composition characterized by including 0.1 to 50 parts by weight of the magnesium hydroxide-based solid solution (b) per 100 parts by weight of a synthetic resin (a); and a molded article thereof.

FIBER-CONTAINING FIRE PROTECTION MATERIAL
A fire protection material includes at least 10 wt % of inorganic fibers, at least 5 wt % of an additive dispersed within the inorganic fibers, the additive selected from fibers, particles, platelets, aerogels, a foam, or combinations thereof; and at least 2 wt % of a binder dispersed within the inorganic fibers. The inorganic fibers, additive, and binder account for at least 60 wt % of the fire protection material.
FIBER-CONTAINING FIRE PROTECTION MATERIAL
A fire protection material includes at least 10 wt % of inorganic fibers, at least 5 wt % of an additive dispersed within the inorganic fibers, the additive selected from fibers, particles, platelets, aerogels, a foam, or combinations thereof; and at least 2 wt % of a binder dispersed within the inorganic fibers. The inorganic fibers, additive, and binder account for at least 60 wt % of the fire protection material.

Described herein is a powdered composition comprising including granules having a hydrophobic active ingredient dispersed in a polymeric matrix, wherein the powdered composition contains a fireproofing agent. The fireproofing agent defined in the present disclosures includes talc that, when present in the powdered composition, prevents a dust explosion risk when the powdered composition is manufactured, handled or dosed into a consumer product.
