OIL DISPERSANT FORMULATION, METHODS AND USES THEREOF
The present disclosure relates to an oil dispersant composition for dispersing a crude oil or a petrochemical spill comprising at least 20% (w/w) of a gum comprising a mannosylerythritol lipids mixture; at least 10% (w/w) polyethylene glycol sorbitan ester; and at least 20% (w/w) of a hydrophobic organic solvent, wherein said organic solvent has a flash point superior to the crude oil or the petrochemical spill flash point, preferably superior to 60 C. The disclosure also relates to a method for obtaining said composition as well as a method for dispersing an oil spill, comprising the step of applying the disclosed oil dispersant composition with an oil present in a body of water.

Phytol-based surfactants and methods therefor
Described herein are compositions and methods for the conversion of chlorophyll-derived phytol into useful and economically viable surfactants. The provided compositions utilize the hydrophobic phytol structure and added functional groups to increase hydrophilicity at one end of the molecule.

Heterocyclic amphoteric compounds
Disclosed are a variety of amphoteric compounds having a heterocyclic quaternary nitrogen group. The heterocycle includes pyridines, piperidines, and pyrrolidines, and is linked to the hydrophobe via either an amide or an ester linkage. These heterocyclic amphoteric compounds can be advantageously prepared in high yield and purity by a two-step chemoenzymatic process, and have excellent surfactant properties.

EMULSIFYING COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING FATTY ACID OR FATTY ESTER REACTION PRODUCTS OF SACCHARIDE POLYMERS FORMULATED WITH MIXED SURFACTANTS
Aqueous compositions comprising a reaction product of a saccharide polymer and a fatty acid or a fatty ester may be obtained in an aqueous fluid in the presence of a hydroxide base and a neutral surfactant or a reaction product form thereof, the saccharide polymer comprising a dextran, a dextrin compound, or any combination thereof. When further combined with a zwitterionic surfactant in a sufficient concentration, emulsifying compositions may be obtained. The emulsifying compositions may be contacted with an oleaginous substance to produce an emulsified fluid, which may define an oil-in-water emulsion.
