Wetting and anti-foaming agent
A wetting agent according to Formula (I): ##STR00001## wherein R.sup.1 is selected from a branched alkyl group or linear alkyl group or a cycloaliphatic group or an aromatic group, each having 6 to 15 carbon atoms; R.sup.2 is selected from hydrogen, methyl, or ethyl; R.sup.3 is selected from hydrogen, methyl, or ethyl; R.sup.4 is selected from hydrogen, methyl, or ethyl; R.sup.5 is selected from methyl or ethyl; x ranges from 0 to 5; y ranges from 0 to 10; z ranges from 1 to 10; with the proviso that when x ranges from 1 to 5, R.sup.2 is different from R.sup.3; and with the proviso that when x=0, R.sup.3 is different from R.sup.4. The wetting agent also imparts anti-foam properties to aqueous solutions while reducing surface tension.
EMULSIFIED DRILLING FLUIDS AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USE THEREOF
Drilling fluids and methods of making and using drilling fluids are provided. The drilling fluid contains an aqueous phase, an oleaginous phase, and at least one surfactant having the formula R(OC.sub.2H.sub.4).sub.xOH, where R is a hydrocarbyl group having from 8 to 20 carbon atoms and x is an integer from 1 to 10. Methods of producing drilling fluids include mixing an aqueous phase, an oleaginous phase, and at least one surfactant, and shearing the mixture. Methods of using drilling fluids to drill subterranean formations include mixing an aqueous phase, an oleaginous phase, and at least one surfactant to produce a mixture, which is sheared to form a drilling fluid, and pumped through a drill string in a drill bit located in a subterranean formation. Rock cuttings are transported from the drill bit to a surface of the subterranean formation and the drilling fluid is circulated in the subterranean formation.
Enhanced filtration control packages, wellbore servicing fluids utilizing the same, and methods of maintaining the structure of a wellbore
A wellbore servicing fluid comprises an aqueous base fluid, one or more alkali metal or alkali earth metal salts, at least one visocisifier, and a filtration control package. The filtration control package may comprise a carboxylic acid and an ethoxylated alcohol compound. Alternatively, the filtration control package may comprise a polyethylene glycol. The carboxylic acid may have from 8 to 20 carbon atoms. The ethoxylated alcohol compound may have a general formula R(OCH.sub.2CH.sub.2).sub.xOH, where R is a hydrocarbon having from 10 to 16 atoms and x is an integer from 6 to 9. The ethoxylated alcohol compound may have a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance of from 8.0 to 16.0. The polyethylene glycol may have a mass average molar mass (M.sub.w) of less than or equal to 1500 daltons.
Carboxylate salt or sulfonate salt, and surfactant
A carboxylic acid or sulfonic acid salt containing a plurality of carbonyl groups, and a surfactant represented by the following formula:

wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are as defined herein, and A is COOX or SO.sub.3X, wherein X is H, a metal atom, NR.sup.4.sub.4, imidazolium optionally containing a substituent, pyridinium optionally containing a substituent, or phosphonium optionally containing a substituent, where R.sup.4s are each H or an organic group and are the same as or different from each other; and any two of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 optionally bind to each other to form a ring.
Development of anti-bit balling fluids
Anti-bit balling drilling fluids and methods of making and using drilling fluids are provided. The anti-bit balling drilling fluid contains water, a clay-based component, and at least one of a surfactant having the formula: R(OC.sub.2H.sub.4).sub.xOH, where R is a hydrocarbyl group having from 10 to 20 carbon atoms and x is an integer from 1 and 10, or a polyethylene glycol having the formula: H(OCH.sub.2CH.sub.2).sub.nOH, where n is an integer from 1 to 50. Methods of making and using these drilling fluids are also provided.
Nonionic surfactant
A nonionic surfactant that is environmentally friendly, has excellent surface active power (emulsifying power and solubilizing power), and is capable of stably maintaining the excellent surface active power for a long time is provided. A nonionic surfactant of the present invention contains polyglycerol monoether represented by the formula (1), wherein a ring Z represents a condensed ring of an aromatic hydrocarbon ring having 6 to 14 carbon atoms and a 3 to 6-membered heterocycle containing an oxygen atom as a heteroatom; R.sup.1 is a substituent bonded to the ring Z and represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 14 to 25 carbon atoms; the ring Z optionally has one or more substituents other than R.sup.1; and n is an average number of monomers of glycerol and represents 2 to 20. ##STR00001##
Spacer fluids and cement slurries that include surfactants
According to at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, a well bore cementing system may comprise a spacer fluid and a cement slurry. The spacer fluid may be positioned within a well bore, and the spacer fluid may comprise a first surfactant package comprising one or more surfactants. The cement slurry may be positioned within the well bore, and the cement slurry may comprise a second surfactant package comprising one or more surfactants.
Retarded acid systems, emulsions, and methods for using in acidizing carbonate formations
In one embodiment, a retarded acid system comprises an aqueous acid and a retarding surfactant. The aqueous acid may comprise from 5 wt. % to 25 wt. % of a strong acid, that is, an acid having a K.sub.a greater than or equal to 0.01. The aqueous acid may further comprise from 75 wt. % to 95 wt. % water. The retarding surfactant may have the general chemical formula R(OC.sub.2H.sub.4).sub.XOH where R is a hydrocarbon having from 11 to 15 carbon atoms and x is an integer from 6 to 10. The retarding surfactant may have a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance from 8 to 16.
PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF ALKOXYLATES COMPOSITIONS
A mixture of two alkoxylates surfactants, one being an aryl aliphatic carbinol alkoxylate, the other one being a dialiphatic carbinol alkoxylate, said mixture being useful for stabilizing emulsions and dispersions used in agricultural or pharmaceutical formulations. The alkoxylates surfactants may serve as substitutes for nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPE) and tristyrylphenol ethoxylates (TSE).
SURFACTANT COMPOSITION
The polymerization stability and the chemical stability and the water resistance of resin films are improved. A surfactant composition according to an embodiment contains a surfactant (A) represented by general formula (1) and an anionic surfactant (B) having a hydrophobic group different from that of the surfactant (A). In the formula, R.sup.1 represents one or two groups selected from groups below, D.sup.1 represents a polymerizable unsaturated group represented by chemical formula D.sup.1-1 or D.sup.1-2 below, R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, m1 and m2 represent 1 to 2, A.sup.1 represents an alkylene group with 2 to 4 carbon atoms, and m3 represents 1 to 100.
