Method for producing base lubricating oil from oils recovered from combustion engine service
09677013 · 2017-06-13 · ·

A method for producing ILSAC GF5 or higher compatible oils from used oil, comprising separating material having a boiling point less than about 350 F. from recovered oil to produce de-volatized oil fraction and light oil fraction. Separating material with a boiling point greater than about 350 F. and less than about 650 F. from the de-volatized oil fraction to produce fuel oil fraction and heavy oil fraction. Separating material with a boiling point greater than about 1200 F. from the heavy oil fraction to produce partially purified oil fraction and residual fraction. Treating the partially purified oil fraction to separate it into purified oil fraction and contaminant fraction. Hydrogenating the contaminant fraction to remove predetermined compounds, further saturating the fraction and thereby creating a saturated oil fraction. Fractionating the saturated oil stream to produce one or more of naphtha fraction, diesel oil fraction and base oil fraction.

A method for recovering synthetic oils from a feed stream, the method comprising separating at least a portion of the non-synthetic oil constituents from a commingled stream to produce a partially purified synthetic oil stream and one or more contaminant streams. Extracting at least a portion of the synthetic oil from the partially purified synthetic oil stream to produce a synthetic oil stream and a second contaminant stream.

Desulfurization process of waste tire pyrolysis oil to produce fuel

A method and system desulfurizes fuel produced from pyrolysis of waste tires and includes hydroprocessing tire pyrolysis oil to desulfurize the tire pyrolysis oil and obtain a hydroprocessed pyrolysis oil. The hydroprocessed oil is distilled into at least two environmentally fuel products selected from the group consisting of kerosene, naphtha, fuel oil, fuel and diesel. By combining hydroprocessing with distillation, and advantageously recycling byproducts, the methods of this disclosure allow for conversion of waste tires into fuel in a manner that is commercially viable and sustainable.

Method of preparing lube base oil

The present disclosure provides a method of preparing a lube base oil. The method comprises (a) providing a feed stream, (b) separating the feed stream into at least two fraction streams comprising a first fraction stream and a second fraction stream, and (c) before or after the separating of the feed stream, introducing the feed stream or at least two fraction streams into a first and second hydro-processing treatments to produce at least two product streams, and the first product stream has a higher viscosity index (VI) than the second product stream. The present disclosure also provides a lube base oil and a lubricant composition comprising the lube base oil.
