DEWATERING OF THERMOCHEMICAL OIL

A process for dewatering a thermochemical oil. The process comprises providing a thermochemical oil comprising water; adding a solvent selected from mesityl oxide, 2-methyltetrahydrofuran, dioxane and furfural to the thermochemical, oil, to form a mixture comprising the thermochemical oil and the solvent; heating the mixture to remove an azeotrope comprising water and the solvent from the mixture, thereby forming a dewatered thermochemical oil. A dewatered thermochemical oil. A fuel precursor.

Gas oil separation plant systems and methods with reduced heating demand

Systems and methods for crude oil separations including degassing, dewatering, desalting, and stabilization. One method includes separating crude oil into a crude oil off-gas and a partially degassed crude oil output; compressing the crude oil off-gas; applying the compressed crude oil off-gas for indirect heating through reboilers of the partially degassed crude oil output; and directly mixing with the crude oil a compressed atmospheric pressure gas. In some embodiments, multiple reboilers are used. In some embodiments, heat exchangers are used. Aftercoolers are used after the compressor to cool the gas; knockout drums are used after the coolers to separate liquids.

Steam quench performance improvement

Methods that reduce fouling of equipment in a quench water recycling loop of a steam cracker quench system by separating tar from water in the quench water recycling loop. The methods may include settling a bottom stream comprising pyrolysis gasoline, from a quench tower, in at least two quench water settlers in parallel, each of the quench water settlers producing a settler hydrocarbon stream and a settler bottom quench water stream. The methods may also include mixing a bottom stream comprising pyrolysis gasoline, from a quench tower, with quench tower effluent water to form a combined stream. The method may further include settling the combined stream in at least two quench water settlers in parallel to produce settler hydrocarbon streams, settler bottom quench water streams, and settler process water streams.

A heavy oil or bitumen or mixtures of heavy oil and bitumen or mixtures of a dilutant and heavy oil or bitumen is treated to separate components of the feed oil and induce reactions that crack the heavy oil or bitumen into light components. A heated inclined dual tube unit arrangement where feed oil enters the arrangement through the inner tube and which opens partway up the outer tube. Vaporized oil continues to flow up within the outer tube whereas the liquid oil product flows down the annular space between the inner and outer tubes. The vaporized oil is condensed beyond the dual tube arrangement to yield liquid oil products. Heat exchange can be done between the products and the inlet feed oil to improve the energy efficiency of the unit.

PROCESS FOR CONVERTING OXYGENATES TO DISTILLATE FUELS

A process for producing olefins from methanol with an MTO catalyst and oligomerizing a resulting olefin stream with an oligomerization catalyst to produce an oligomerized olefin stream. Oligomerization may comprise a first stage ethylene and/or propylene oligomerization step followed by a second stage oligomerization step of the first stage oligomerized olefin stream to higher olefins. The oligomerized olefin stream can be separated into jet and diesel fuel streams.
