Tower bottoms coke catching device
A coke catching apparatus for use in hydrocarbon cracking to assist in the removal of coke and the prevention of coke build up in high coking hydrocarbon processing units. The apparatus includes a grid device for preventing large pieces of coke from entering the outlet of the process refining equipment while allowing small pieces of coke to pass through and be disposed of. The coke catching apparatus can be easily disassembled to be removed from the refining process equipment and cleaned.
NAPHTHENIC ACID CORROSION INHIBITORS FOR A REFINERY
Corrosion inhibitor compositions and methods for inhibiting corrosion on a metal surface exposed to a hydrocarbon fluid are provided. The corrosion inhibition compositions can include a corrosion inhibitor, such as 3-dimethylamino benzoic acid, 4-dimethylamino benzoic acid, or 2,5-dihydroxyterephthalic acid. The corrosion inhibitor composition can further comprise dimethyl sulfoxide, and heavy aromatic naphtha. The corrosion inhibitor composition can be phosphate-free and can inhibit naphthenic acid corrosion. In the methods, a corrosion inhibitor composition is added to the hydrocarbon fluid exposed to the metal surface to prevent or inhibit corrosion on the metal surface, including naphthenic acid corrosion.

METHOD FOR ELIMINATING PRESSURE DIFFERENCE IN DISTILLATION COLUMN
A method for eliminating pressure loss (pressure difference) caused by salt derived from impurities in raw materials in a distillation facility during operation without negative effect on the quality of products and production efficiency is provided. The method for eliminating occurrence of pressure difference caused by precipitation of salt in a distillation facility includes using a specific quaternary ammonium compound.
Method of reducing corrosion and corrosion byproduct deposition in a crude unit
A method of optimizing system parameters in a crude unit to reduce corrosion and corrosion byproduct deposition in the crude unit is disclosed and claimed. The method includes measuring or predicting properties associated with the system parameters and using an automated controller to analyze the properties to cause adjustments in the chemical program to optimize the system parameters. Adjusting the system parameters effectively controls corrosion in the crude unit by reducing the corrosiveness of a fluid in the process stream and/or by protecting the system from a potentially corrosive substance. System parameter sensing probes are arranged at one or more locations in the process stream to allow accurate monitoring of the system parameters in the crude unit.
