Multiple-bed catalytic reactor comprising a mixing device
The present invention relates to multi-bed catalytic reactor with a cylindrical shape comprising a mixing device mounted between two catalyst beds in the reactor, said mixing device has a circular outer rim which corresponds to the inner wall of the reactor, the mixing device comprises; collecting means disposed in a collecting section for collecting fluid from an upstream catalytic bed, mixing means disposed in a mixing section for mixing the collected fluid comprising guide vanes and guide ramps, and discharging means disposed in a discharging section for discharging the mixed fluid to a down-stream catalytic bed; wherein the collecting section, the mixing section and the discharging section are disposed outside the center of the circular cross-section of the reactor, as well as associated methods for mixing and the use of such a mixing device in catalytic reactors.
ZrCe-SBA-15-NiMo HYDRODESULFURIZATION CATALYST
A robust catalyst useful for hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of sulfur-containing hydrocarbons such as sulfur-containing diesel fuel. The catalyst contains a modified mesoporous silica, such as SBA-15, Zr atoms, Ni, Mo, Ce atoms. A method for removing sulfur from a hydrocarbon, such as diesel fuel or a refinery feedstock using the catalyst. A one-pot method for making the catalyst.
Resaturation of gas into a liquid feedstream
A method for enabling gas exchange and chemical reactions with one or more liquid streams contained in a reactive process vessel are provided. One or more exchange layers within the process vessel can be composed of both collector media and releaser media. The exchange layers allow elements to facilitate increased performance of vessel operations by promoting gas component mixing and diffusion. Improved rates of gas component exchange mean less coking and more gas components available for reaction.
METHOD OF HYDROGENOLYSIS FOR IMPROVED PRODUCTION OF PARAXYLENE
The invention relates to a selective hydrogenolysis method for treating a feed rich in aromatic compounds having more than 8 carbon atoms, comprising transforming at least one alkyl group with at least two carbon atoms (ethyl, propyl, butyl, isopropyl, etc.) attached to a benzene ring into at least one methyl group. The invention also relates to the integration of the hydrogenolysis unit into an aromatic complex.
Deasphalting and hydroprocessing of steam cracker tar
Systems and methods are provided for solvent deasphalting of steam cracker tar. The resulting deasphalted oil produced from the steam cracker tar can then be hydroprocessed, such as hydrotreated and/or hydrocracked in a fixed bed reactor. The solvent deasphalting can correspond to a mild or trim deasphalting or can correspond to solvent deasphalting at higher solvent to oil ratios. Performing a trim deasphalting can reduce or minimize the amount of deasphalting residue that is formed as a product from the deasphalting process.
Method for optimizing catalyst loading for hydrocracking process
The invention relates to a method for optimizing layered catalytic processes. This is accomplished by testing various catalysts with a compound found in a feedstock to be tested, to determine the facility of the catalyst in hydrogenating, hydrosulfurizing, or hydrodenitrogenating the molecule, and hence the feedstock. In a preferred embodiment, the Double Bond Equivalence of the feedstock and molecule are determined, and catalysts are pre-selected based upon their known ability to work with materials of this DBE value. In preferred embodiments, the layered catalysts include a demetallization catalyst, used before hydrocracking. In additional preferred embodiments, the test feedstock contains 500 ppmw or less asphaltenes, preferably C.sub.5-asphaltenes.
Adjustable lift engager
A lift engager for providing a stream of fluidized catalyst particles with an adjustable conduit and process using the lift engager. The lift engager includes a vessel with an inlet configured to receive catalyst from a reaction zone. A first conduit, within the vessel, is configured to supply lift gas into the lift engager. The first conduit includes a fixed member and a movable member secured to the fixed member and is configured to adjust a length of the first conduit within the vessel. A second conduit inside the first conduit and configured to provide fluidized catalyst to a regeneration zone.
Catalytic chemical reactor comprising a floating tray
A catalytic reactor comprises a floating tray fluid distributor and optionally also an integrated particle separator which is modular build to be assembled inside the reactor and which has support members enabling the floating tray to be floating supported by the catalyst bed inside the reactor.
