Process for the production of renewable distillate-range hydrocarbons

A process for producing renewable distillate-range hydrocarbons is provided. The process includes dehydrating a renewable C2-C6 alcohol feedstock to produce an olefin, oligomerizing the olefin the presence of a halometallate ionic liquid catalyst to produce an oligomer product and hydrogenating the oligomer product or fractions thereof to produce saturated distillate-range hydrocarbons.

Provided are a method of producing a Lube base oil composition including a) reacting at least a part of waste plastic pyrolysis oil having a boiling point in a range of 180 to 340? C. to remove impurities and oligomerize the oil; and b) hydroisomerizing at least a part of the product of step a). A lube base oil composition is also produced therefrom.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING ALPHA-OLEFIN OLIGOMER COMPOSITION

A method for producing an ?-olefin oligomer composition includes: an oligomerization step A1 of oligomerizing an ?-olefin with a metallocene catalyst to obtain an oligomer (a); a distillation separation step A2 of distilling and separating the oligomer (a) to obtain a high molecular weight fraction (a1) and a low molecular weight fraction (a2); an oligomerization step B1 of oligomerizing an ?-olefin oligomer containing the low molecular weight fraction (a2) with an acid catalyst to obtain an oligomer (b); and a mixing step C of mixing a portion of the oligomer (a) or a hydrogenated product thereof and a portion or a whole of the oligomer (b), an isomer thereof, or a hydrogenated isomer thereof.

Process to produce paraffinic hydrocarbon fluids from light paraffins

A process for converting light paraffins to heavier paraffinic hydrocarbon fluids is disclosed. The process involves: (1) oxidation of iso-paraffins to alkyl hydroperoxides and alcohols; (2) conversion of the alkyl hydroperoxides and alcohols to dialkyl peroxides; and (3) radical-initiated coupling of paraffins and/or iso-paraffins using the dialkyl peroxides as radical initiators, thereby forming heavier hydrocarbon products. Fractionation of the heavy hydrocarbon products can then be used to isolate fractions for use as hydrocarbon fluids.

Bio-based synthetic fluids

A method is provided involving altering the viscosity of bio-derived paraffins to produce a paraffinic fluid, where the altering step includes oligomerizing the bio-derived paraffins to produce an oligomerized product; the bio-derived paraffins include a hydrodeoxygenated product produced by hydrodeoxygenating a bio-based feed where the bio-based feed includes bio-derived fatty acids, fatty acid esters, or a combination thereof; the bio-derived paraffins include n-paraffins; and the n-paraffins have a biodegradability of at least 40% after about 23 days of exposure to microorganisms. Also provided are methods of protecting and/or cleaning a substance by applying the paraffinic fluid.

Processes for preparing low viscosity lubricants

Disclosed are processes for forming an oligomer product by contacting a feedstock olefin containing trisubstituted olefins with a solid acid catalyst. The oligomer product can be formed at an oligomerization temperature in a range from 20 C. to 40 C. Polyalphaolefins produced from the oligomer product can have reduced viscosities at low temperatures.
