INHIBITORS OF TOP-OF-LINE CORROSION OF PIPELINES CONVEYING CRUDES FROM EXTRACTION OF HYDROCARBONS
20170218524 · 2017-08-03 ·

The invention relates to a composition for inhibiting corrosion of the upper part (or roof) of a pipeline for conveying wet hydrocarbons, i.e. hydrocarbons comprising a variable amount of water, said composition comprising at least one Amine 1 with vapour pressure greater than or equal to 10 mmHg, and at least one. Amine 2 with vapour pressure greater than or equal to 0.1 mmHg and strictly less than 10 mmHg.

The invention also relates to the use of such a composition, and also to the method of inhibiting top-of-line corrosion employing said inhibitor composition.

Method and compositions for inhibition of naphthenic acid induced corrosion

Corrosion induced by the presence of naphthenic acids in hydrocarbon fluids, particularly where such fluids are at elevated temperatures, may be inhibited or controlled through use of corrosion inhibiting compositions comprising a combination of a minor portion of a phosphorus-based constituent and a major portion of a sulfur-based constituent, nitrogen-based constituent, or combination thereof. In another embodiment the sulfur-based constituent and/or nitrogen-based constituent may be used without any phosphorus-based constituent. Where the compounds are appropriately selected, the compositions may inhibit corrosion to a degree comparable or nearly comparable to the inhibition provided by an equal amount of some conventional phosphorus-based compounds alone, but are significantly less likely to impair catalyst activity in downstream cracking and refinery operations.

Disclosed herein are antifouling compositions including a combination of one or more dispersant polymers and one or more inhibitors, the one or more dispersant polymers including the polymerized residues of one or more α-olefins and maleic anhydride, further wherein the maleic anhydride residues are reacted with a primary amine; and the one or more inhibitors including a functionalized p-phenylene diamine. Concentrates of the antifouling compositions in solvents are stable and pourable at temperatures of 0° C. to −40° C. The antifouling compositions are added to a petroleum product to form a treated petroleum product, wherein fouling by the treated petroleum product is reduced and a stable dispersion is formed over a wide range of processing conditions.
