Circular economy for plastic waste to polypropylene and lubricating oil via refinery FCC and isomerization dewaxing units

A continuous process for converting waste plastic into recycle for polypropylene polymerization is provided. The process integrates refinery operations to provide an effective and efficient recycle process. The process comprises selecting waste plastics containing polyethylene and polypropylene and then passing the waste plastics through a pyrolysis reactor to thermally crack at least a portion of the polyolefin waste and produce a pyrolyzed effluent. The pyrolyzed effluent is separated into offgas, a naphtha/diesel fraction, a heavy fraction, and char. The naphtha/diesel fraction is passed to a refinery FCC unit, from which is recovered a liquid petroleum gas C.sub.3 olefin/paraffin mixture. The C.sub.3 paraffins and C.sub.3 olefins are separated into different fractions with a propane/propylene splitter. The C.sub.3 olefin fraction is passed to a propylene polymerization reactor. The C.sub.3 paraffin fraction is optionally passed to a dehydrogenation unit to produce additional propylene and then the resulting C.sub.3 olefin is passed to a propylene polymerization reactor. The heavy fraction of pyrolyzed oil is passed to an isomerization dewaxing unit to produce a lubricating base oil.

A system for catalytic cracking of hydrocarbon oils has a catalytic cracking reactor, a catalyst separation device, an optional reaction product separator, and a regenerator. A catalytic cracking reactor has a dilute-phase transport fluidized bed and a fast fluidized bed connected in series for reaction. In the fast fluidized bed, the axial solid fraction ? of the catalyst is controlled within the range of about 0.1 to about 0.2. When used for catalytic cracking of hydrocarbon oil feedstocks, particularly heavy feedstock oils, the process and system show lower yields of dry gas and coke, and good product distribution.

A treatment process for remediating a contaminated liquid containing more than 5 ppm hydrogen sulfide (H.sub.2S) and substantially without formation of precipitate, includes steps of steps of adding an aqueous solution containing at least one hydroxide compound at a collective concentration of 35-55 wt % to the contaminated liquid to achieve a concentration of 125-5000 ppm of the hydroxide compounds in the contaminated liquid, adding at least one organic acid and to the liquid to achieve a concentration of 0.01-10 ppm in the contaminated liquid, and dispersing the aqueous solution and the at least one organic acid in the contaminated liquid and allowing the aqueous solution and the at least one organic acid to react with the contaminated liquid for a period of time until a concentration of hydrogen sulfide in the contaminated liquid is reduced to 5 ppm.

The present invention relates to an apparatus for the hydroconversion of heavy oil products (the fresh load). Said apparatus comprises: a slurry bubble column hydroconversion reactor, which comprises a feed line in which the fresh load and the recirculated slurry phase are conveyed, an inlet line for a hydrogenating stream and an outlet for a reaction effluent through an outlet nozzle; a stripping column at high pressure and high temperature placed downstream of the reactor and directly connected to the reactor head through a pipeline in which the reaction effluent flows; said column having an inlet line for a stripping gas, an inlet for the reactor effluent, a head outlet for steam and an outlet for the slurry phase; lines and means for recirculating the slurry leaving the stripping column; lines and means for taking a drain stream, which has the function of preventing the accumulation of solids in the reactor. The stripping column is characterized in that it contains one or more contact devices that allow physical contact to be created between different phases.

USE OF REFINERY FUEL GAS TO IMPROVE STEAM REFORMER PRESSURE SWING ADSORPTION PROCESSES

A process is disclosed for producing hydrogen for a hydrogen consuming process comprising obtaining a gas stream containing hydrogen from a steam reforming hydrogen plant, sending the gas stream to a pressure swing adsorption unit to be separated into a hydrogen stream and a fuel gas stream; purging the pressure swing adsorption unit with an external purge gas stream from a hydroprocessing unit off gas; treating the off gas with a thermal swing adsorption unit to remove water and other impurities prior to purging the pressure swing adsorption unit; and using a protective adsorbent layer in the pressure swing adsorption unit at the product-hydrogen end of the bed to adsorb impurities from the external purge gas.

Process for propylene and LPG recovery in FCC fuel gas

The present invention provides a process for recovery of propylene and LPG from the fuel gas produced in FCC unit by contacting a heavier hydrocarbon feed with FCC catalyst. The process provides an energy efficient configuration for revamping an existing unit constrained on wet gas compressor capacity or for designing a new gas concentration unit to recover propylene and LPG recovery beyond 97 mole %. The process of the present invention provides an increase propylene and LPG recovery without loading wet gas compressor with marginal increase in liquid loads.
