Method and apparatus for converting an alcohol into a motor fuel mixture
A method and apparatus for converting an alcohol into a fuel mixture which consists of alcohol, ether and water and is suitable for operating a combustion engine, in particular an internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle, converts the alcohol into the fuel mixture in a reactor at a suitable reaction temperature. The mixing ratio of alcohol fraction, ether fraction and water fraction in the fuel mixture is adjusted by controlling at least one reaction parameter of a reaction taking place in the reactor.
PROCESS FOR PREPARING A DIESEL FUEL COMPOSITION
Process for preparing a diesel fuel composition comprising the steps of: (i) blending a Fischer-Tropsch derived gasoil with a petroleum derived gasoil to form a blended gasoil which is compliant with the EN590 specification, wherein the Fischer-Tropsch derived gasoil has a density of 0.8 g/cm.sup.3 or less and wherein the petroleum derived gasoil is derived from naphthenic high density petroleum crude oil and has a density at 15? C. of 0.84 g/cm.sup.3 or greater and a naphthenics content of 30 wt % or greater; and (ii) mixing the blended gasoil produced in step (i) with a diesel base fuel to form a diesel fuel composition, wherein the diesel fuel composition has a density at 15? C. in the range from 0.820 g/cm.sup.3 to 0.845 g/cm.sup.3.
Fuel additive composition
A fuel additive composition comprising an anthocyanidin; an amino acid; and a catalyst. The anthocyanidin may comprise delphinidin chloride. The amino acid may comprise aspartic acid, leucine acid, glutamic acid, a non-natural amino acid, or a combination thereof. Embodiments of the present invention also relate to a method for making of fuel additive, the method comprising: providing an anthocyanidin; contacting the anthocyanidin with an amino acid to form an anthocyanidin-amino acid mixture; contacting the anthocyanidin-amino acid mixture with a catalyst. The method may further comprise contacting the anthocyanidin-amino acid mixture with ethanol and/or an acid. The method may further comprise adjusting the pH of the anthocyanidin-amino acid mixture to less than 7.
Butanol compositions for fuel blending and methods for the production thereof
The invention relates to butanol compositions for fuel blending and fuel blends comprising such compositions. The compositions and fuel blends of the invention have desirable performance characteristics and can serve as alternatives to ethanol-containing fuel blends. The invention also relates to methods for producing such butanol compositions and fuel blends.

Methods and apparatus for carbonaceous fuel and/or feedstock treatment
The inventive technology includes methods and apparatus for the generation and application of segregated catalytic additives for the pre-combustion treatment of carbonaceous fuel and/or feedstocks. The application of such segregated additives results in the reduction of environmentally harmful emissions during combustion as well as gasification processes. Specifically, pre-combustion treatment of carbonaceous materials with the inventive additives results in the reduction of NOx and/or mercury emissions by least 20% and 40% respectively.
