Production of paraffinic products
A method for combined production of renewable paraffinic products is disclosed, wherein the method includes providing a renewable paraffinic feed, and fractionating the renewable paraffinic feed into two fractions. Within the two fractions, a lighter fraction fulfils a specification for an aviation fuel component, and a heavier fraction fulfils a specification for an electrotechnical fluid component.
PRODUCTION OF LIGNIN DERIVED RENEWABLE LUBRICANTS
Disclosed herein are bio-based compositions comprising branched aromatic compounds and/or branched cycloaliphatic compounds, and methods of their preparation from lignin-derived monomers, and their use as base oils in lubricant compositions, personal care compositions, and pharmaceutical compositions.
Methods and Compositions for Preparing Triglycerides Containing Fatty Acid Vicinal Diester Functionality
A method for producing a triglyceride including fatty acids with vicinal diesters: (a) providing a triglyceride including fatty acids with epoxide groups; (b) reacting the epoxide groups with carboxylic acid salts under basic conditions to produce a triglyceride including fatty acids with vicinal ester/alkoxides; (c) protonating the vicinal ester/alkoxides to produce a triglyceride including fatty acids with vicinal ester/alcohols; and (d) reacting the vicinal ester/alcohols with carboxylic acids under acidic conditions to produce a triglyceride including fatty acids with vicinal diesters.
Lubricant composition for water-based compositions
A lubricant composition includes (a) a hydrocarbon oil including at least 30% wt of isoparaffins, based on the total weight of the hydrocarbon oil, and (b) an alkoxylated natural oil. A method of using the lubricant composition in a water-based composition, in particular a water-based mud, to improve the lubricity and/or to reduce the foaming properties of the water-based composition is also disclosed.

AMORPHOUS HYDROCARBON BASED FILM, AND SLIDING MEMBER AND SLIDING SYSTEM PROVIDED WITH SAID FILM
A low-friction coating includes: an aliphatic hydrocarbon group showing a peak in a region of 2,900 cm.sup.1 to 3000 cm.sup.1 in an infrared absorption spectrum; a carbonyl group showing a peak in a region of 1,650 cm.sup.1 to 1,800 cm.sup.1 in an infrared absorption spectrum; an aromatic component (C.sub.7H.sub.7.sup.+) showing a peak at mass 91.1 in a positive ion spectrum obtained by TOF-SIMS; and a condensed ring based component (C.sub.9H.sub.7.sup.+) showing a peak at mass 115.2 in the positive ion spectrum obtained by TOF-SIMS.
Lube base oil comprising X-type diester acid dimer and method for preparing the same
The present invention relates to a preparation method of a lube base oil including a conversion of biomass fat to a fatty acid; a separation of a C18 unsaturated fatty acid from the fatty acid; a maximization of an oleic acid content through partial hydrotreating of the C18 unsaturated fatty acid; a synthesis of a dimer or higher-order oligomer through an oligomerization of the oleic acid; and an esterification of the oligomer, and relates to a lube base oil prepared therefrom. The lube base oil of the present invention contains an x-type diester dimer and has an excellent low-temperature stability and a high biodegradability resulting from its chemical structure, thus being ecofriendly.

HIGH VISCOSITY BASE STOCK COMPOSITIONS
Methods are provided for producing Group III base stocks having high viscosity and also having one or more properties indicative of a high quality base stock. The resulting Group III base stocks can have a viscosity at 100 C. and/or a viscosity at 40 C. that is greater than the corresponding viscosity for a conventional Group III base stock. Additionally, the resulting Group III base stocks can have one or more properties that are indicative of a high quality base stock.
HIGH VISCOSITY BASE STOCK COMPOSITIONS
Methods are provided for producing Group I base stocks having high viscosity and also having one or more properties indicative of a high quality base stock. The resulting Group I base stocks can have a viscosity at 100 C. and/or a viscosity at 40 C. that is greater than the corresponding viscosity for a conventional Group I bright stock formed by solvent processing. Additionally, the resulting Group I base stocks can have one or more properties that are indicative of a high quality base stock.
