An umbrella, comprising a support pole including an upend end and a lower end, a canopy connected to the upper end of the support pole, the canopy including a plurality of struts that support a waterproof material and transition the canopy between an expanded open position and a contracted closed position, an upper handle unit permanently attached to the lower end of the support pole, the upper handle unit including an upper battery compartment, a lower handle unit removably attached to the upper handle unit, the lower handle unit including a lower battery compartment, a plurality of fiber optic lights embedded within the plurality of struts wired directly to and powered by the upper battery compartment, and a flashlight within the lower handle unit wired directly to and powered by the lower battery compartment.

According to an aspect, the present embodiments may be associated with a protective covering configured to slip over and at least partially cover an umbrella to provide a user with full body protection against weather elements, while providing for the admittance of light and air therethrough. The protective covering may include a covering member for positioning over and/or connecting to the umbrella and a protective member extending from the covering member. According to another aspect, a protective device may include the umbrella having a canopy and a shaft, as well as a protective member extending from a peripheral edge of the canopy. The shaft may include a telescopic stem configured for extension to a support structure and to support the protective device when configured in its extended position.

An umbrella is provided that has a support pole, a canopy frame, and a set up assembly. The canopy frame is coupled with the support pole. The set up assembly is coupled with the canopy frame. The set up assembly is configured to open the canopy frame. The set up assembly has an actuator handle, a recess disposed on or in the support pole, and a locking pin. The locking pin is coupled with the handle and is moveable by the handle along a first direction between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the locking pin is disposed in the recess. In the second position the locking pin is spaced away from the recess. Movement of the locking pin along the umbrella pole adjacent to the recess in a second direction transverse to the first direction moves the locking pin between the first position and the second position in the first direction without moving the actuator handle in the first direction.

An umbrella including a support shaft, a plurality of ribs, a rotatable cam assembly, and a canopy. Each rib of the plurality of ribs has a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. The proximal end portion is pivotably attached to an upper portion of the support shaft to pivot the rib between an open position and a closed position. The rotatable cam assembly includes a cam configured to rotate about a longitudinal axis of the support shaft. A mister-equipped umbrella to shield a user from precipitation, to provide protection from harmful UV rays, and to allow the user to activate a mister having a variable mist head to cool the user on a hot, sunny day. The mister-equipped umbrella generally combines an umbrella assembly and a mister assembly. The umbrella assembly includes a tube, a runner, a plurality of stretchers, a plurality of ribs each terminating in a top, a cover having at least one UV coating, and a handle that has an inner volume for storing batteries and an outer surface that may be insulated for gripping. The mister assembly includes a fluid reservoir, a pump, and a variable mister head. In use, the user may manually adjust the variable mister head to configure a misting pattern and frequency of the mister.

Embodiments of the present application includes methods and structures for Anti-Ballistic Shelters, including an anti-ballistic shelter having a frame comprising at least one support member, and one or more surfaces comprising a flexible high strength layered anti-ballistic material attached to said frame, wherein said flexible high strength layered anti-ballistic material is layered in at least two directions; and further wherein said layered anti-ballistic material is enveloped around said frame.
