The threaded connection for pipes or tubes includes a pin and a box. The pin and the box include contact surfaces having threaded portions and unthreaded metal contact portions. The threaded connection for pipes or tubes includes, on at least one of the contact surfaces of the pin and the box, surface roughness, a Zn—Ni alloy plating layer, a Cu—Sn—Zn alloy plating layer and a solid lubricant coating layer. These are deposited from the contact surface side in the order of: surface roughness, the Zn—Ni alloy plating layer, the Cu—Sn—Zn alloy plating layer and the solid lubricant coating layer.

The present invention provides a lubricant containing a base oil and resin particles including a trifluoroethylene resin, the content of the resin particles being more than 10 mass % with respect to the mass of the base oil. The present invention also provides an electrical contact 1 which has a metal material as a base material 11 and which electrically contacts another electroconductive member 2, the electrical contact 1 having a layer 14 of the abovementioned lubricant on the surface of the base material. The present invention furthermore provides a connector terminal having the abovementioned electrical contact 1 in a portion thereof for making electrical contact with a mating connector terminal. The present invention provides a class of halogen-containing synthetic base oils, and preparation method and use thereof. The synthetic base oils have introduced with halogen, especially fluorine, wherein the dipole motion of the halogen groups results in dipole interaction between the dipoles of other components and the base oil molecules of dipole-dipole and dipole-induced halogen (especially fluorine), and the interaction force is stronger and more localized than the dispersion force between the molecules of pure hydrocarbon synthetic oils, and thus the performance of the base oils is directly affected. It solved the problem of oil solubility of pure hydrocarbon synthetic oils, and also improved the properties of oxidation resistance and thermal stability.

The grease composition for a ball joint comprises a base oil, a thickener, and an additive. The base oil contains an ethylene--olefin copolymer and the kinetic viscosity of the base oil at 40 C. is 2,000 to 6,000 mm.sup.2 /s. The additive contains a polar wax (e.g., monoamide wax or ester wax).
