Abradable coating hBN filler material and method of manufacture
A process for solid lubricant filler powder used in abradable coating manufacture comprising mixing a bentonite clay and a hexagonal boron nitride powder to form a mixture of the bentonite clay and the hexagonal boron nitride powder; consolidating the bentonite clay and the hexagonal boron nitride powder to form a composite material; heat treating the composite material to at least 500 degrees centigrade; breaking up the composite material into a variety of sizes; and segregating the composite material to produce a final product of free flowing, low dust powder of composite hexagonal boron nitride and calcined bentonite.
Azole derivatives as lubricating additives
Lubricating compositions comprising an azole-acrylic adduct formed by contacting an azole compound with an acrylic. The adduct formed has at least one nitrogen-alkyl group comprising at least one acyl. The lubricating composition also comprises an antiwear agent and an antioxidant. Methods of lubricating an internal combustion engine comprising contacting the internal combustion engine with the lubricating composition comprising an azole-acrylic adduct formed by contacting an azole compound with an acrylic. Methods of reducing corrosion and/or seal deterioration in an internal combustion engine. The use of an azole-acrylic adduct in a lubricating composition to reduce corrosion and/or seal deterioration in an internal combustion engine.
Composition and Method of Manufacturing Calcium Magnesium Sulfonate Greases
A sulfonate-based grease composition and method of manufacture comprising (1) addition of both overbased calcium sulfonate and overbased magnesium sulfonate in a ratio range of 60:40 to 100:1, with the magnesium sulfonate added all at once, a portion prior to conversion and another portion after conversion, and/or one more delay periods between the addition of water or other reactive ingredient and the addition of magnesium sulfonate; (2) one or more delay periods between the addition of at least a portion of a facilitating acid and at least a portion of the next subsequently added ingredient; (3) no conventional non-aqueous converting agents added prior to conversion; or (4) a combination thereof. The grease has a high dropping point and reduced thickener yield.
Silicone lubricant
A curing formulation operative as a lubricant is provided that has a plurality of silicone polymer precursors constituting a majority by weight of the formulation, each of the plurality of the silicone polymer precursors has a single curable moiety. A crosslinker is provided for reaction with the single curable moiety of each of the plurality of silicone polymer precursors to yield a thermoplastic silicone polymer having a majority by total weight of silicone polymer being comb- or branched-polymer form as the lubricant. A process of lubricating an interface is provide that includes the application of an aforementioned composition to the interface. Upon allowing sufficient time for the formulation to cure in ambient temperature conditions, a thermoplastic silicone polymer is formed having a majority by total weight of silicone polymer being comb- or branched-polymer.
Mercaptoazole derivatives as lubricating additives
Lubricating compositions comprising a mercaptoazole-acrylic adduct formed by contacting a mercaptoazole compound with an acrylic. The adduct formed has at least one sulfur-alkyl group comprising at least one acyl, or compounds having at least one nitrogen-alkyl group comprising at least one acyl, or mixtures thereof. The lubricating composition also comprises an antiwear agent and an antioxidant. Methods of lubricating an internal combustion engine comprising contacting the internal combustion engine with the lubricating composition comprising a mercaptoazole-acrylic adduct formed by contacting a mercaptoazole compound with an acrylic. Methods of reducing corrosion and/or seal deterioration in an internal combustion engine. The use of a mercaptoazole-acrylic adduct in a lubricating composition to reduce corrosion and/or seal deterioration in an internal combustion engine.
Lubricant composition containing an antiwear agent
The invention provides a lubricant composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and a protic acid salt of an N-hydrocarbyl-substituted gamma-(γ-) or delta-amino(thio)ester. The invention further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device with the lubricant composition.
MATERIAL COMPOSITIONS AND SEQUENCES OF MANUFACTURING
The disclosure provides for a valve including a surface movably engaged with another surface. A coating is on the surface and is characterized by: a CoF of less than 0.1; a hardness in excess of 1,200 HVN; impermeability to liquids at pressures ranging from 15 and 20,000 psi; a surface finish of 63 or less; and a thickness ranging from 0.5 to 20 mils. The disclosure provides for material constructions including a continuous phase, including a transition metal, and a discontinuous phase, including a solid dry lubricant. The disclosure also provides for a method of depositing a coating that includes depositing a first layer of a coating onto a surface using electroplating, electroless plating, thermal spraying, or cladding, and then depositing a second layer of the coating onto a surface of the first layer using sputtering, ion beam, plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition, cathodic arc, or chemical vapor deposition.
LUBRICANT ADDITIVE AND METHOD FOR PREPARING THE SAME
A lubricant additive may be synthesized by forming a nanohybrid of a transition metal dichalcogenide and a metal borate, forming a base oil, and then dispersing the transition metal dichalcogenide into the base oil. An exemplary nanohybrid may be synthesized by forming a first solution by adding a borax solution to an aqueous solution of a metal source, forming a second solution by adding ethanol to the first solution, forming a mixture by mixing the transition metal dichalcogenide with the second solution, and heating the mixture at a temperature of 180° C. to 230° C. and a pressure of 5 to 20 bar under a nitrogen atmosphere.
