HYDROXY FUNCTIONALIZED ASHLESS ADDITIVE
The disclosed technology relates to hydroxy functionalized ashless additives useful in engine oil compositions due to their ability to reduce deposits, particularly deposits seen in turbocharged direct injection (TDI) engines. The described additives include ashless saturated compounds having a long chain hydrocarbyl polymer terminated by a hydroxyl group. The disclosed technology also relates to lubricant compositions containing the described additives, processes of making the described additives, and methods of using the described additives.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS INCLUDING A POLYMERIZABLE-ACID GRAFT POLYMER AS A CORROSION INHIBITOR
Embodiments of lubricant compositions that may comprise a lubricant oil and a corrosion inhibitor, wherein the corrosion inhibitor may comprise a polymerizable-acid graft polymer that may comprise from about 3.0% to about 35% by weight of an unsaturated grafting acid and an alkylene oxide polymer backbone, the alkylene oxide polymer backbone having the formula: R[(OC.sub.nH.sub.2n).sub.zOR].sub.a wherein each R in the formula may be independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, hydrogen radicals, and acyl radicals, wherein each R in the formula may be independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, hydrogen radicals, amine-containing radicals, and acyl radicals, wherein each n in the formula may independently have a value of from 2 to 4, wherein each Z in the formula may independently have a value of from 4 to about 1800, and wherein a may have a value of from 1 to 4.
