LUBRICANT COMPOSITION FOR PLASTIC PROCESSING
Provided is a lubricant composition for plastic working which lubricant composition is excellent in lubricity and mold releasability. The lubricant composition for plastic working which lubricant composition contains: (a) silica; and (b) an alkali metal salt of an organic acid, a weight ratio of (b) the alkali metal salt of the organic acid to (a) the silica (a weight of (b)/a weight of (a)) being not less than 2, is used.
HYDROPHILIC COATINGS AND METHODS OF FORMING THE SAME
Hydrophilic coatings including a base coat layer and a top coat layer wherein at least one of the base coat and top coat compositions that form the hydrophilic coatings comprises a diacrylate compound have a number average molecular weight less than 1000.
Corn syrup, an inversion aid for water-in-oil polymer emulsions
The present invention generally relates to the method of using corn syrup to improve the inversion properties of water-in-oil (w/o) friction reducing polymers.
Hydrophilic coatings and methods of forming the same
Hydrophilic coatings including a base coat layer and a top coat layer wherein at least one of the base coat and top coat compositions that form the hydrophilic coatings comprises a diacrylate compound have a number average molecular weight less than 1000.
Process for the preparation of polyurea-thickened lignin derivative-based lubricating greases, such lubricant greases and use thereof
The invention relates to a method for preparing lignin derivative-based lubricating greases thickened by a polyurea thickener, lubricating greases thus prepared, and the use of such lubricant greases, inter alia, in transmissions, constant-velocity driveshafts and sealed roller bearings.
Coiled-tubing fluid-lubricant composition and related methods
A method for performing a coiled-tubing process, the method having the steps: performing a coiled-tubing process using a fluid-lubricant composition that includes a sulfur-containing compound, and introducing the fluid-lubricant composition into a subterranean wellbore casing.
Lubricant for metal cold forming processes and methods of use of the same
Disclosed is a lubricant for use in cold forming of a metal. The lubricant comprises a mixture of at least one lubricating compound and at least one starch. The starch adheres the lubricating compound to the metal surface. The present lubricant completely removes the need to pre-coat the metal with a zinc phosphate coating to adhere the lubricating compound to the metal. The present lubricant eliminates several steps required in processes that utilize zinc phosphate pre-coatings. In addition, the lubricant of the present invention is easily removed after the cold forming operations unlike zinc phosphate coatings.
LOW-FRICTION AND LOW-ADHESION MATERIALS AND COATINGS
Disclosed are materials that possess both low adhesion and the ability to absorb water. The material passively absorbs water from the atmosphere and then expels this water upon impact with debris, to create a self-cleaning layer. The lubrication reduces friction and surface adhesion of the debris (such as an insect), which may then slide off the surface. The invention provides a material comprising a continuous matrix including a polymer having a low surface energy (less than 50 mJ/m.sup.2) and a plurality of inclusions, dispersed within the matrix, each comprising a hygroscopic material. The continuous matrix and the inclusions form a lubricating surface layer in the presence of humidity. The material optionally contains porous nanostructures that inject water back onto the surface after an impact, absorbing water under pressure and then releasing water when the pressure is removed. The material may be a coating or a surface, for example.
NATURAL ANTIOXIDANTS DERIVED FROM LIGNIN
Technical lignin compositions and pyrolysis methods for forming such technical lignin compositions from pyrolyzed biomass are provided. The technical lignin compositions can include at least about 50 wt % phenolic polymers and/or at least about 75 wt % combined phenolic monomers and phenolic polymers. In some aspects, less than about 50 wt % of the linkages between benzylic units in the phenolic polymers and/or in the composition can correspond to -O-4 linkages. At least about 50 wt % of the hydroxyl groups in the composition can correspond to phenolic hydroxyl groups. At least about 60 wt % of the phenolic hydroxyl groups and/or phenolic ether groups can correspond to phenolic hydroxyl groups and/or phenolic ether groups in an ortho position relative to at least one substituent.
