HYDRAULIC FLUID COMPOSITION

A hydraulic fluid includes an oil of lubricating viscosity and at least 2 wt. % of an ester of a carboxy group-containing interpolymer comprising units derived from a vinyl aromatic monomer and units derived from a carboxylic acid monomer. The interpolymer also contains nitrogen functionality. The hydraulic fluid is at least substantially free of polyacrylates and polymethacrylates.

HEAT TRANSFER COMPOSITION

A composition comprising a heat transfer portion and a lubricating portion, wherein the lubricating portion comprises one or more compounds according to formula (I): wherein W is independently selected from the group consisting of H, F, Cl, Br and I; Y is independently selected from the group consisting of F, Cl, Br and I; Z is independently selected from the group consisting of H, OH, (CW.sub.2).sub.PCW.sub.3, CY.sub.3, OCW.sub.3, 0(CW.sub.2).sub.pCW.sub.3, OCW((CY.sub.2).sub.mCY.sub.3)CWCW.sub.2, polyalkylene glycol and polyolester; n is an integer from 2 to 250; m is an integer from 0 to 3; and p is an integer from 0 to 9.

Lubricant compositions comprising core-shell nanoparticles

Lubricant compositions, core-shell nanoparticles, and related methods are disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, a lubricant composition includes a plurality of core-shell nanoparticles. The nanoparticles include a core, a first shell disposed on the core, and a second shell disposed on the first shell. The first shell is formed from a siliceous material and the second shell is formed from a hydrophobic material. The first and second shells form functional coatings that reduce wear and friction of parts lubricated with the lubricant composition.

FASTENER USING LUBRICATED INTERFERENCE FIT

The invention relates to a method for installing metallic fastener (10; 40) for the interference fit assembly of at least two structural elements (20, 22) comprising a through hole, the fastener comprising an enlarged head (12; 42), a shaft (14; 44) having an external diameter before installation that is greater than an internal diameter of the hole, said shaft comprising a conductive surface (26; 56). Before installation, at least the conductive surface (26; 56) is coated with a lubricating layer (30), which comprises a mixture of at least one polyolefin and one polytetrafluoroethylene, for example, having sufficient adherence to prevent its abrasion by manual manipulation of the fastener and being weak enough to be at least partly stripped from the conductive surface during the interference fit assembly of the fastener.

The invention is applicable to the assembly of aircraft structures.

In a threaded joint for pipes constituted by a pin and a box, each having a contact surface comprising a threaded portion and an unthreaded metal contact portion, the contact surface of the pin has a solid corrosion protective, preferably transparent coating based on a UV-curable resin and the contact surface of the box has a solid lubricating coating having plastic or viscoplastic rheological behavior which is preferably formed by the hot melt technique from a composition comprising a thermoplastic polymer, a wax, a metal soap, a corrosion inhibitor, a water-insoluble liquid resin, and a solid lubricant.

System, composition and method of application of same for reducing the coefficient of friction and required pulling force during installation of wire or cable

A composition and method for reducing the coefficient of friction and required pulling force of a wire or cable are provided. A composition of aqueous emulsion is provided that is environmentally friendly, halogen free and solvent free. The composition is compatible with various types of insulating materials and may be applied after the wire or cable is cooled and also by spraying or submerging the wire or cable in a bath. The composition contains lubricating agents that provide lower coefficient of friction for wire or cable installation and continuous wire or cable surface lubrication thereafter.
