Fluoropolyether compound, lubricant using same and usage thereof
An object of an aspect of the present invention is to provide: a lubricant excellent in adsorbability on the surface of a magnetic disk and in contamination resistance; and a magnetic disk which uses the lubricant and which is excellent in durability. The lubricant in accordance with an aspect of the present invention contains a fluoropolyether compound having, at a terminal thereof, a hydroxyalkenyl group or a hydroxyalkynyl group.
BIFUNCTIONAL FLUORINATED POLYMERS COMPRISING A PLURALITY OF (PER)FLUOROPOLYETHER SEGMENTS
A polymer [polymer (P)] comprising a plurality of (per)fluoropolyether (PFPE) segments [segments (S.sup.RF)] joined together by hydrogenated (poly)ether segments [segments (S.sup.H)], said polymers (P) having two end groups [groups (E)], each group (E) comprising a hydroxy or a leaving group, with the proviso that the hydrogenated (polytether segment (S.sup.H) is not a segment of formula —CH.sub.2OCH.sub.2 2 OCH.sub.2— is herein disclosed. Disclosed is also a method for the manufacture of polymer (P) and a polymer obtainable by full or partial fluorination of polymer (P). Polymer (P) and polymers obtainable therefrom by full or partial fluorination can be conveniently used in the manufacture of lubricant compositions or of compositions for imparting hydro-/oleo-repellence to substrates. Said polymers can also be used as intermediates for the manufacture of other polymers or block copolymers.
WATER LUBRICATION TYPE BEARING MATERIAL
A water lubrication type bearing material contains 12 wt. % to 25 wt. % of a tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether copolymer resin (PFA resin), 18 wt. % to 33 wt. % of a carbon fiber, and a remainder including a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) resin and/or a modified PTFE resin. The bearing material has excellent wear resistance and sliding characteristics for a water lubrication type bearing.
ROLLING BEARING, MACHINE ELEMENT, AND SOLID-FILM FORMATION METHOD
A method is provided that forms a solid film on a bearing component of a rolling bearing. A solution containing a fluorine compound and a lubricant having no functional group is allowed to adhere to the bearing component as a liquid film, the fluorine compound containing 3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate, hexafluoropropene, and methyl methacrylate as components. The solid film is formed on the at least one of the bearing components by hardening the adhering liquid film.
Fullerene compound, lubricant for magnetic recording medium, and magnetic recording medium
The invention provides a fullerene compound; a lubricant that is for a magnetic recording medium and that contains the fullerene compound; and a magnetic recording medium. The fullerene compound is an ionic liquid that is represented by general formula (1) and is formed from a Bronsted acid (H.sub.n1X) and a Bronsted base ([R.sub.2R.sub.3)N—].sub.m1—R.sub.1); wherein one of the Brønsted acid and the Broønsted base contains a group having a fullerene; and the other contains a perfluoroalkyl chain. ##STR00001##
Composition, threaded joint for pipes including solid lubricant coating formed from the composition, and method for producing the threaded joint for pipes
A threaded joint for pipes disclosed herein includes a pin and a box. The pin and the box each include a contact surface including a threaded portion and a metal contact portion. The threaded joint for pipes includes a solid lubricant coating on at least one of the contact surfaces of the pin and the box, the solid lubricant coating including a binder, a lubricant additive, an anti-rust additive, and a plasticizer.
LUBRICIOUS COATINGS FOR SKIS AND SNOWBOARDS AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE
Coatings, coating systems and coating methods for skis and snowboards are provided. The coatings may be lubricious coatings including one or more hydrophobic compounds, adhesion agents, shape memory polymers, free-radical initiators, and/or carrying solvents.
Mechanochemical Based Synthesis of Perfluoropyridine Monomers for Polymerization
The present invention relates to a mechanochemical based synthesis of perfluoropyridine monomers, polymers made using such monomers and methods of making and using articles comprising such polymers. Such perfluoropyridine monomers are easily chemically tuned have the strength needed for high temperature applications and the flexibility needed for low temperature applications. In addition, to the aforementioned monomers, a mechanochemical based synthesis for such perfluoropyridine monomers is provided. All of the aforementioned performance application advantages are also found in polymers comprising Applicants' perfluoropyridine monomers.
Fluorine-containing ether compound, lubricant for magnetic recording medium, and magnetic recording medium
A fluorine-containing ether compound represented by Formula (1) is provided;
R.sup.1—R.sup.2—CH.sub.2—R.sup.3—CH.sub.2—R.sup.4—R.sup.5 (1)
(In Formula (1), R.sup.1 and R.sup.5 may be the same as or different from each other and each represents an alkenyl group having 2 to 8 carbon atoms or an alkynyl group having 3 to 8 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 and R.sup.4 may be the same as or different from each other and each represents a divalent linking group having a polar group, and R.sup.3 represents a perfluoropolyether chain, with a proviso that R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are, and R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are divided due to the presence of an atom other than the carbon atom such as an oxygen atom).
