20190292479 · 2019-09-26 ·

A composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and a compound represented by formula (I) wherein: R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently a hydrocarbyl group containing from about 4 to about 18 carbon atoms; p and q are each independently 0 or an integer from 1 to 3, and the sum of p and q is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. The composition is effective at swelling seals.

Ashless or reduced ash quaternary detergents

A composition of an oil-soluble ionic detergent that does not contribute metal ions to the composition, and which comprises a quaternary non-metallic pnictogen cation and an organic anion having at least one hydrocarbyl group of sufficient length to impart oil solubility to the detergent, the detergent having a total base number (TBN) to total acid number (TAN) ratio of at least 2:1 imparts ash-free basicity to a lubricant composition.

ALIPHATIC TETRAHEDRAL BORATE COMPOUNDS FOR LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS

An additive for a lubricating composition includes an ionic tetrahedral borate compound which includes a cation and a tetrahedral borate anion having a boron atom, the boron atom has at least one aliphatic bidentate di-oxo ligand. The cation may be selected to provide detergent and/or dispersant and/or antioxidant properties to a lubricating composition.

LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION

Provided is a lubricating oil composition, which has low viscosity but also prolonged anti-shudder life without reduction of intermetallic friction coefficient. The lubricating oil composition is characterized in comprising (A) a lubricating base oil, and (C) (C-1) a borated succinimide compound with a mass average molecular weight of 4,000-7,000 and (C-2) a borated succinimide compound with a mass average molecular weight of greater than 7,000-10,000.

PRESS-FIT LUBRICANT COMPOSITION

There is provided a press-fit lubricant composition comprising an unsaturated compound with an iodine value of 100 or more.

SEAL SWELL AGENTS FOR LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS

The invention relates to a seal swell agent which is a substituted sulfonyldibenzene compound, and lubricating compositions containing the seal swell agent. The substituents on the benzene rings may be hydrocarbyl groups of 4 to 20 carbon atoms or alkylene groups of 1-2 carbon atoms with further functional groups.

Ionic liquid, lubricant, and magnetic recording medium

A lubricant including an ionic liquid, which includes a conjugate acid (B.sup.+) and a conjugate base (X.sup.), and is protic, wherein the conjugate acid includes a straight-chain hydrocarbon group having 10 or more carbon atoms, and wherein the conjugate base is represented by the following general formula (1): ##STR00001##
where n is an integer of from 0 to 6 in the general formula (1).

Grease composition and mechanical part

The invention provides a grease composition containing a base oil, a thickener and a rust inhibitor, characterized in that the rust inhibitor includes an organic sulfonate and a fatty acid amine salt. The grease composition of the invention exhibits excellent rust preventing characteristics and causes little damage to the environment.
