Lubricant composition and use
The present invention provides a lubricant composition which can be washed off cold and the use thereof for application to a metal strip as anti-corrosion, wash and/or forming lubricant. The composition is 50 to 90 wt % base fluid, 3 to 15 wt % sulfonate-based corrosion inhibitor, 1 to 20 wt % ester component, 0.5 to 3 wt % phosphorus source component or 1 to 10 wt % sulfur source component as high-pressure/anti-wear additive, 1 to 15 wt % emulsifier, 0.05 to 1 wt % carboxylic acid component, 0.05 to 1 wt % aminic and/or phenolic antioxidant, 0.5 to 5 wt % wax and/or thickener component, based in each case on the total weight of the composition. Further disclosed is a dry lubricant composition which can be washed off cold.
Polyolefin-derived dispersants
Ethylene-C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha olefin copolymers, dispersants and lubricating oils/fuel compositions incorporating dispersants, and related methods are generally described herein. The copolymer may comprise ethylene-derived units and C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units. The C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units may have a carbon number from three to ten. For example, the C.sub.3-C.sub.10 alpha-olefin-derived units may be propylene-derived units.
Preparation and use of aminoalkylphosphonic acid dilakyl ester compounds in a lubricant for antiwear, friction reduction, and/or micropitting prevention
In accordance with the disclosure, one aspect of the present application is directed to a lubricant additive composition. The lubricant additive composition includes a component or mixture of components selected from (a) an aminoalkylphosphonic acid dialkyl ester; (b) a cyclized product of an aminoalkylphosphonic acid dialkyl ester; and a mixture of (a) and (b). Preparation and use of the additive composition in a lubricant for antiwear and/or friction reduction are also disclosed.
LUBRICATING OIL CONTAINING ALKYL PHOSPHONIC ACID
This disclosure describes a zinc-free lubricating oil composition. The composition includes a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity having a kinematic viscosity at 100? C. in a range of about 1.5 to about 35 mm.sup.2/s and an anti-wear mixture having one or more ashless dispersants and an alkyl phosphonic acid having a structure given by

wherein R is a C.sub.3-C.sub.20 hydrocarbyl group. The initial pH of the anti-wear mixture is between 5-9.5 as measured by ASTM D664.
Friction and wear reduction additives
The present invention relates to additives for reducing friction and wear in lubricants. In particular, the present invention relates to novel salts and their use in lubricating oil compositions for reducing friction and wear. In particular, the present invention relates to one or more ionic liquids, wherein the one or more ionic liquids comprise one or more cations and one or more Group 6 metal mononuclear metallate anions.
Composition for producing a lubricant composition
Lubricant composition, in particular a cooling lubricant solution, based on ionic and/or organoelemental compounds.
Slideway Lubricants
The present disclosure relates to lubricating oil compositions, and in particular, lubricating oil compositions for slideway applications, additive compositions for the slideway lubricants, and methods of lubricating a machine part, such as a slideway with the lubricating oil compositions. In one aspect, the lubricating oil compositions have a composition that provides both good friction performance and good separability from metal working fluids at the same time.
Metal working fluid additive composition
An industrial fluid additive composition comprises one or more sequestering agents one or more compounds of formula (A): (A) wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently selected from substituted hydrocarbyl moieties containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl moieties containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms.
Ionic liquids containing symmetric quaternary phosphonium cations and phosphorus-containing anions, and their use as lubricant additives
An ionic liquid composition having the following generic structural formula: ##STR00001##
wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 are equivalent and selected from hydrocarbon groups containing at least three carbon atoms, and X.sup. is a phosphorus-containing anion, particularly an organophosphate, organophosphonate, or organophosphinate anion, or a thio-substituted analog thereof containing hydrocarbon groups with at least three carbon atoms. Also described are lubricant compositions comprising the above ionic liquid and a base oil, wherein the ionic liquid is dissolved in the base oil. Further described are methods for applying the ionic liquid or lubricant composition onto a mechanical device for which lubrication is beneficial, with resulting improvement in friction reduction, wear rate, and/or corrosion inhibition.
