AUTOMOTIVE TRANSMISSION FLUID COMPOSITIONS FOR IMPROVED ENERGY EFFICIENCY
An automatic transmission fluid comprises a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and minor amounts of (a) one or more oil-soluble or dispersible molybdenum-containing compounds, and (b) a reaction product of an isomerized alkenyl-substituted succinic anhydride and a polyamine characterized by structure (II):
##STR00001##
In structure (II) x and y are independently zero or integers from 1 to 30, where x+y is from 1 to 30, and z is zero or an integer from 1 to 10.
LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION
Provided is a lubricating oil composition which has an excellent effect of reducing the friction coefficient even when a member having a low surface roughness in a low oil temperature region is lubricated, by means of a lubricating oil composition which contains a mineral base oil (A), a polymer (B) having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of 100 to 15,000, and a molybdenum-based friction modifier (M) and has a kinematic viscosity at 40? C. of 35.0 mm.sup.2/s or less.
Grease wear resistance
Grease wear test device includes a body in a form of a collar having an outer surface, a first side and an opposing second side, which are open to form a hollow, open channel through the body, which has a center axis, into which opposing vee blocks can be inserted; and perpendicular to the center axis, a pair of opposing holes through and open to the outer surface of the body and the cylindrical inside wall, through which a cylindrical test journal (falex pin) can be inserted for contact in general with opposing vee-shaped channels of the inserted, opposing vee blocks, and for rotation during testing. The device can be used to modify a falex pin and vee block device, to receive and contain a small sample of grease or another organic paste product for testing such as a modified version of an ASTM D2670 test method for measuring wear properties of fluid lubricants (falex pin and vee block method).
SOLID LUBRICANT-COATED STEEL ARTICLES, METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING THEREOF AND QUENCHING OIL USED IN THE MANUFACTURING
A method for manufacturing of steel articles comprises nitriding (210) a steel article at a nitrification temperature in the interval 350-650 C., giving a nitrided steel article. The nitrided steel article is quenched (220) in a reactive quenching oil from the nitrification temperature. The reactive quenching oil comprises at least one of S, P, B, Mo and W. Thereby, the quenching additionally comprises coating (222) of the nitrided steel article by a solid lubricant comprising at least one of S, P, B, Mo and W. An apparatus for manufacturing of steel articles, a quenching oil and a steel article produced by the method are also disclosed.
Additive for lubricant compositions comprising an organomolybdenum compound, and a derivatized triazole
A lubricating composition for use in heavy duty diesel engines which is formulated to allow the use of organo-molybdenum compounds but which overcomes the issue of Cu and/or Pb corrosion and also maintains elastomer seal compatibility. The lubricant is characterized by having a composition comprising (A) an organo-molybdenum compound, (B) an alkylated diphenylamine derivative of triazole, (C) base oil, and optionally (D) one or more additives selected from the group including antioxidants, dispersants, detergents, anti-wear additives, extreme pressure additives, friction modifiers, rust inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, seal swell agents, anti-foaming agents, pour point depressants and viscosity index modifiers.
