The industrial lubricant also includes at least one intercalation compound of a metal chalcogenide, a carbon containing compound and a boron containing compound, wherein the intercalation compound may have a geometry that is a platelet shaped geometry, a spherical shaped geometry, a multi-layered fullerene-like geometry, a tubular-like geometry or a combination thereof.

Refractory binder system

A refractory formulation containing an anhydrous solvent, an oleophilic rheology modifier and a refractory aggregate exhibits non-thermoplastic behavior, and remains plastic and formable at temperatures in the range of 10 degrees Celsius to 180 degrees Celsius. The oleophilic rheology modifier may effectively bind with the solvent to create a gel-like structure with organic solvents with moderate to high polarity. A phyllosilicate clay that has been treated with a quaternary fatty acid amine may be used as the oleophilic rheology modifier.

Method for simultaneously and stably dispersing spherical nanoparticles in oil medium by using layered nanosheets and application thereof

Provided are a method for simultaneously and stably dispersing spherical nanoparticles in an oil medium by using layered nanosheets and an application thereof. The method comprises: (1) mixing the layered nanosheets and oil-soluble alkylamines to obtain a first mixture containing intercalated/exfoliated nano sheets; (2) mixing spherical nanoparticles and the oil medium to obtain a second mixture; and (3) mixing the first mixture, the second mixture and the oil medium to obtain a third mixture.

METHOD FOR PREVENTING OR REDUCING LOW SPEED PRE-IGNITION

A method for preventing or reducing low speed pre-ignition in an engine lubricated with a lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil. The formulated oil has a composition including a lubricating oil base stock as a major component, and at least one lubricating oil additive, as a minor component. The lubricating oil contains at least one metal or metalloid in an amount sufficient that, in thermogravimetric measurements of the lubricating oil by a Thermogravimetric Engine Oil Simulation Test, carbon black decomposition temperature is increased as compared to the carbon black decomposition temperature in a lubricating oil containing calcium or magnesium. A lubricating oil useful for preventing or reducing low speed pre-ignition in an engine lubricated with the lubricating oil. The lubricating oils of this disclosure are particularly advantageous as passenger vehicle engine oil (PVEO) products.
