Lubricant compositions including an additive composition and methods for its use in engines that produce soot. The lubricant composition contains a base oil and an additive composition having (a) at least 0.05 percent by weight of a first dispersant that is a reaction product of A) a hydrocarbyl-dicarboxylic acid or anhydride, and B) at least one polyamine; and (b) at least 0.05 percent by weight, both based on a total weight of the lubricant composition, of a second dispersant that is a reaction product of A′) a hydrocarbyl-dicarboxylic acid or anhydride, and B′) at least one polyamine, wherein the reaction product is post-treated with C) an aromatic carboxylic acid, an aromatic polycarboxylic acid, or an aromatic anhydride wherein all carboxylic acid or anhydride groups are attached directly to an aromatic ring, and/or D) a non-aromatic dicarboxylic acid or anhydride having a number average molecular weight of less than about 500.

The interpolymer also contains nitrogen functionality. The hydraulic fluid is at least substantially free of polyacrylates and polymethacrylates.

Aqueous cutting fluid composition

A water-based cutting fluid that comprises water and a water-soluble polyalkylene glycol (PAG) having cloud point from 30° C. to 80° C. The cutting fluid is water-based, i.e., it comprises at least 50 percent by weight (wt %) water. The cutting fluids are well suited for use with diamond wiresaws for the cutting of silicon ingots. The fluids exhibit one or more of low hydrogen generation, no wafer cleaning issues, good lubricity, good cooling efficiency, good swarf suspension and dispersion, low foaming, are generally non-sensitive to metal ions, and are nonflammable.

Lubricant for the hot forming of metals

A lubricant for the hot forming of metals, with respect to the solid constituents, contains at least the following constituents: 55 to 85 wt % of a solid lubricating agent comprising a mixture of talc and a potassium mica, wherein the ratio of talc to potassium mica in the solid lubricating agent is 2.0 to 5.0, 10 to 30 wt % of an adhesive agent selected from a polyvinyl acetate, sodium water glass and dextrin or a mixture of same, 2 to 10 wt % of a thickener selected from hydroxy cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxyproply cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, methyl cellulose, ethyl cellulose, methylethyl cellulose, hydroxyethylmethyl cellulose, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, ethylhydroxymethyl cellulose, carboxymethylhydroxy cellulose, dextrin, starch, organically modified bentonite, smectite and xanthan gum, 0 to 10 wt % of further auxiliary agents, and not more than 10 wt % of graphite.

Multi-ring antioxidants with antiwear properties

Described are multi-ring antioxidant products comprising at least one sulfur-bridged aromatic hydrocarbon compound substituted on at least one of its aromatic rings by at least one sterically hindered 3,5-dihydrocarbyl-4-hydroxybenzyl moiety. Such products have the formula:
R—S.sub.n—R[—S—R].sub.m
wherein each R is, independently, an aromatic hydrocarbon group having 6-12 carbon atoms, wherein m is 0-20, wherein n is 1-6 when m is 0, and when n is 1, m is 1-20; and wherein at least one of R, R.sup.1, and R.sup.2 is substituted by at least one such sterically hindered moiety. The preparation of such products and their use as antioxidants in compositions normally susceptible to oxidative degradation in oxygen or air, e.g., liquid fuel and lubricants, are also described.
