A gun has parts that slide past one another during operation. A coating is formed on at least a surface of a first part that contacts a second part. At least an upper layer of the coating is porous and comprises a thermoset polymer and a filler. One or both parts may be part of a gas-operated reloading mechanism. The coating prevents jamming by excluding particles, yielding to particles that still manage to intrude, and by providing a reservoir for lubricant. The coating reduces clearances, improves accuracy, and reduces operating temperatures. The coating excludes particles from the lubricant, effectively allowing a large volume of lubricant to be used without the drawback of trapping dirt and other contaminants in the lubricant.

Alkylphenol detergents

The disclosed technology provides alkylphenol-containing detergent having at least one unit (a) of an alkyl-substituted phenol wherein the alkyl group is derived from oligomers of an olefin compound containing 3 to 8 carbon atoms, wherein the polyolefin-derived alkyl group comprises at least 30 mol percent of an olefin with 4 or more carbon atoms. The invention further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device with the lubricant composition.

The present invention relates to a mechanochemical based synthesis of perfluoropyridine monomers, polymers made using such monomers and methods of making and using articles comprising such polymers. Such perfluoropyridine monomers are easily chemically tuned have the strength needed for high temperature applications and the flexibility needed for low temperature applications. In addition, to the aforementioned monomers, a mechanochemical based synthesis for such perfluoropyridine monomers is provided. All of the aforementioned performance application advantages are also found in polymers comprising Applicants' perfluoropyridine monomers.

The aqueous lubricant composition (B) has a pH value in the range of from 0.1 to 6.0, and includes water in an amount of at least 40 wt.-%, based on the total weight of the composition (B), at least one film-forming polymer, at least one wax, at least one corrosion inhibitor , and oxalate and/or phosphate anions. Further disclosed herein are a pretreated metallic substrate obtainable by the aforementioned inventive method, a method of cold forming of a metallic substrate including a step of subjecting the inventive pretreated metallic substrate to a cold forming process, an aqueous lubricant composition (B), and a master batch for preparing the aqueous composition (B).

A spring part, in particular for a driving device, includes a spring body extending around a central axis. The spring body comprises several spring windings which run radially around a spring axis and are made of at least a base material. The base material is surrounded at least by a first protective layer, and the spring body is at least partially covered on the outside by a lubricant. A method for manufacturing a spring part includes the steps of providing a spring body with several spring windings made of a base material and coating the base material at least with a first protective layer. The method includes the step of applying a lubricant formed as a silicone-based lubricant to the outside of the coated spring body.

The novel lubricant is characterized by having a composition comprising (A) one or more types of the novel additive compositions, (B) Base oil//lubricant, and optionally (C) one or more additives selected from the group including antioxidants, dispersants, detergents, anti-wear additives, extreme pressure additives, friction modifiers, viscosity index modifiers, seal swell additives, defoamers, pour point depressants and corrosion/rust inhibitors. A corrosion-resistant wet film lubricant composition includes a lubricating pigment, an oil, and a thickener. The lubricating pigment comprises graphene platelets and is dispersed in the oil, and the thickener thickens the wet film lubricant. The graphene platelets are oxidized and functionalized with a silane. In another example, a method of producing a corrosion-resistant lubricant includes oxidizing exfoliated graphene to produce oxidized graphene platelets, functionalizing the oxidized graphene platelets with a silane to produce functionalized graphene platelets, and dispersing the functionalized graphene platelets in a lubricant composition, wherein the lubricant composition comprises an oil and a thickener.
