Lubricating composition
The invention provides a lubricating composition containing an oil of lubricating viscosity and a N-acylated aromatic amine compound. The invention further relates to methods of lubricating an internal combustion engine by supplying the described lubricating composition to the internal combustion engine. The invention further relates to the use of the N-acylated aromatic amine compound as a TBN booster.
GREASE COMPOSITION FOR ROLLING BEARINGS AND ROLLING BEARING
The invention provides a grease composition for rolling bearings that can exhibit improved bearing life that can secure the low noise performance under high temperature conditions, and a rolling bearing where the above-mentioned grease composition is enclosed. The grease composition for rolling bearings includes a base oil, a urea thickener and a metal deactivator. The base oil has an aniline point of 110 C. or more. The urea thickener is at least one kind of diurea compound selected from the group consisting of diurea compounds represented by formula (1): R.sup.1NHCONHR.sup.2NHCONHR.sup.3 (wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.3, which may be the same or different from each other represent a C.sub.6-30alkyl group, a C.sub.5-8cycloalkyl group or a C.sub.6-10aryl group, and R.sup.2 represents a bivalent aromatic hydrocarbon group having 6 to 15 carbon atoms.)
Viscosity Modifiers For Improved Fluoroelastomer Seal Performance
A lubricant composition of (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity; (b) a poly(meth)acrylate ester polymer comprising 0.5 to 5 weight percent of amine nitrogen-containing dispersant monomer units and (c) an esterified copolymer with a backbone comprising units derived from (i) an -olefin monomer of at least about 6 carbon atoms, (ii) an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or derivative thereof, further containing nitrogen functionality in groups pendant from the copolymer backbone, provides a good combination of seal performance and oxidation resistance.
LOW VISCOSITY LUBRICATING POLYOLEFINS
A low viscosity oil has more than 50% by weight of 9-methylnonadecane. A lubricating composition has this low viscosity oil as base oil and, optionally, another base oil or an additive. The low viscosity oil has a kinematic viscosity at 100 C., measured by the ASTM D445 standard, of 0.5 to 2.5 mm.sup.2 s.sup.1. The low viscosity oil can be prepared using a metallocene catalyst, and the low viscosity oil can be used as high performance lubricant for lubrication in the field of motors, hydraulic fluids and gears, in particular bridges and transmissions.
Lubricant composition containing an antiwear agent
The invention provides a lubricant composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and 0.01 wt % to 15 wt % of a (thio)phosphoric acid salt of an N-hydrocarbyl-substituted gamma- (-) or delta-amino(thio)ester. The invention further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device with the lubricant composition.
Lubricant compositions containing beta-glucans
The presently claimed invention relates to a lubricant composition comprising at least one beta-glucan, optionally in form of one of its derivatives, at least one base oil, at least one additive component, and optionally water; the use of said lubricant compositions for reducing wear in metal-on-metal contact and the use of at least one beta-glucan for reducing the friction coefficient of a lubricant composition.
Friction modifier composition for lubricants
Combining a metal based friction modifier, such as a molybdenum dialkyldithiocarbamate, and certain esters of hydroxy carboxylic acids, such as short chain alkyl esters of citric or tartaric acid, e.g., tributyl citrate, has a synergistic effect on lowering the friction coefficient of lubricating oils allowing one to reduce the amount of metal based friction modifier needed to adequately formulate a lubricant with low friction characteristics.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITION COMPRISING HINDERED CYCLIC AMINES
A lubricant composition includes a base oil and a cyclic amine compound. A method of lubricating a system including a fluoropolymer seal with the lubricant composition is also provided. An additive concentrate for a lubricant composition is also provided. The cyclic amine compound is useful for adjusting the total base number of a lubricant composition. The lubricant composition is compatible with fluoropolymer seals.
Lubricating oil compositions containing sterically hindered amines as ashless TBN sourcces
Hindered amines useful as ashless TBN sources for lubricating oil compositions that are compatible with fluoroelastomeric engine seal materials, and lubricating oil compositions containing such compounds.
LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING THIOPHOSPHATES AND THIOPHOSPHATE DERIVATIVES
The invention relates to lubricant additive compositions and lubricant compositions each comprising thiophosphates and thiophosphate derivatives, methods for making and using the same, including methods of lubricating machines and machine parts and methods of extending the useful life of elastomeric seal components of such machines.
