Corrosion resistant lubricant

A lubricant contains alcohol initiated propylene oxide homopolymer, an oil soluble polyalkylene glycol other than the alcohol initiated propylene oxide homopolymer, and a calcium salt of dinonylnaphthalene sulphonate where the lubricant is further characterized by containing less than ten weight-percent of polyol esters based on total lubricant weight is useful as a lubricant for compressors.

A constant velocity joint having a boot constructed from a thermoplastic polyether ester as the boot material. The boot includes a lubricating grease composition for lubricating the constant velocity joint, the lubricating grease composition comprising calcium lignin sulfonate.

Mixed phosphorus esters for lubricant applications

A lubricant composition of an oil of lubricating viscosity and a phosphite ester reaction product of a monomeric phosphorous acid or an ester thereof with a first alkylene diol having two hydroxy groups in a 1,4 or 1,5 or 1,6 relationship and a second, alkyl-substituted, diol being a substituted 1,3-propylene diol, exhibits good wear and frictional performance.

Sealing apparatus

A sealing apparatus sealing a gap between two members mutually relatively rotatable about an axis in an internal combustion engine, the sealing apparatus comprises an elastic body portion. The elastic body portion is an elastic body including an annular attaching portion attached to one of the two members and centered about the axis, and a seal portion in close contact with another of the two members in a manner in which the other of the two members is slidable. The seal portion includes an annular seal lip portion centered about the axis and an annular dust lip centered about the axis on an atmospheric side on an opposite side of a sealed fluid side with respect to the seal lip portion. The seal lip portion includes a lip tip portion which is an annular projecting body projecting toward the axis and grease is applied to the seal lip portion. The grease contains at least one of a synthetic hydrocarbon oil and a mineral oil as a base oil and has a low temperature starting torque of 25 N.Math.cm or less at 30 C.

LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION

A lubricating oil composition which achieves extended anti-shudder durability without causing a decrease in the metal-to-metal friction coefficient, even when the viscosity of the composition is reduced. The lubricating oil composition includes (A) a lubricant base oil, (C) (C-1) a succinimide compound or boronated succinimide compound having a weight-average molecular weight of 4,000 to 7,000, (C-2) a succinimide compound or boronated succinimide compound having a weight-average molecular weight of more than 7,000 to 10,000, and (D) a phosphorus-based extreme pressure agent, the lubricating oil composition does not include zinc dithiophosphate and may optionally include a sulfur-based extreme pressure agent, provided that the content of sulfur-based extreme pressure agent is no more than 0.1 percent by weight of the lubricating oil composition.

GEAR LUBRICANT COMPOSITION

The present application relates to a gear lubricant composition comprising: 97 to 99.9 wt.-% trimethylolpropane triester; and 0.1 to 3 wt.-% at least one additive selected from among anti-wear additives, extreme pressure additives, antioxidants, anti-corrosion additives, metal deactivator additives, antifoams, and mixtures thereof.

Boroxine based seal compatibility agents

The present invention generally relates to compositions for use in lubricating oils. In certain aspects, the present invention is generally directed to boroxine compounds having alkyl groups where one or more of the alkyl groups contains at least 8 carbon atoms. Such compounds may present improved hydrolytic stability, compared to other boroxine compounds. Such boroxine compounds may be used, for example, to improve seal compatibility in an engine. Other aspects of the invention are generally directed to systems and methods for making such boroxine compounds, engine oils containing such boroxine compounds, methods of using such boroxine compounds, or the like.
