Method for obtaining hydrocarbon solvents with boiling point above 300° C. and pour point lower than or equal to −25° C

A method for producing hydrocarbon solvents having a sulfur content of less than 10 ppm, aromatic hydrocarbon content of less than 500 ppm, an initial boiling point higher than or equal to 300 C. and final boiling point lower than or equal to 500 C., for a fraction interval of a maximum of 100 C., and pour point lower than 25 C. according to the standard ASTM D5950, comprising of the following steps of: dewaxing of a hydrocarbon fraction having initial boiling point higher than 300 C. derived from the distillation of a gas oil fraction, hydrodearomatisation of all or part of the dewaxed effluent, in the presence of a catalyst comprising nickel on an alumina base, at a pressure ranging from 60 to 200 bar and a temperature ranging from 80 C. to 250 C., recovery of the dewaxed and dearomatised fraction, distillation in fractions of the dewaxed and dearomatised fraction, recovery of at least one 300 C.+ fraction having pour point lower than 25 C., this fraction having a distillation interval lower than 100 C.

Transmission Fluid Composition for Improved Wear Protection

A transmission fluid composition contains a major amount of a lubricating oil basestock, and a minor amount of an additive package comprising: (i) a mixture comprising two or more phosphites and/or phosphates; (ii) one or more thioester compounds; (iii) one or more zinc dihydrocarbyl dithiophosphate compounds; and (iv) one or more oil-soluble or dispersible molybdenum-containing compounds. Such a transmission fluid may be used for controlling and/or reducing wear, e.g., in a manual transmission.

A crankcase lubricating oil composition for the crankcase of a spark-ignited or compression-ignited internal combustion engine, comprising a magnesium-containing detergent, in an amount sufficient to provide from 200-4000 ppm magnesium to the lubricating oil composition, in combination with an oil-soluble or oil-dispersible molybdenum compound in an amount sufficient to provide from 600-1500 ppm molybdenum atoms to the lubricating oil composition, and with an oil-soluble or oil-dispersible boron-containing compound in an amount sufficient to provide from 200-600 ppm boron atoms to the lubricating oil composition to improve the friction and fuel economy performance.

Lubricant for conveying containers

The passage of a container along a conveyor is lubricated by applying to the container or conveyor a lubricant composition comprising a water-miscible silicone material having a silicone emulsion wherein the silicone emulsion contains less than 500 ppm of a triethanolamine salts of alkyl benzene sulfonic acid compounds.

Lubricant compositions for direct injection engine

The invention is directed to a method for reducing low speed pre-ignition events in a spark-ignited direct injection internal combustion engine by supplying to the sump a lubricant composition which contains an oil of lubricating viscosity and a boron-containing ashless dispersant. The ashless dispersant may be selected from succinimide compounds prepared from aliphatic or aromatic amines.

HYDRAULIC FLUID COMPOSITION

A hydraulic fluid includes an oil of lubricating viscosity and at least 2 wt. % of an ester of a carboxy group-containing interpolymer comprising units derived from a vinyl aromatic monomer and units derived from a carboxylic acid monomer. The interpolymer also contains nitrogen functionality. The hydraulic fluid is at least substantially free of polyacrylates and polymethacrylates.

Lubricating Compositions

A lubricating composition suited to use for lubricating a hydraulic system includes an oil of lubricating viscosity and a compound comprising a polyolefin-substituted bridged hydroxyaromatic compound or metal salt thereof, wherein the wherein the polyolefin is derived from a isobutylene having a number average molecular weight of 150 to 800.

Disclosed herein is a process for preparing a sulfurized non-overbased calcium phenate detergent having a reduced content of un-sulfurized alkyl-substituted phenol and its salt. The process steps involve adding an organic solvent to the detergent, wherein the organic solvent has a boiling point of equal or above the boiling point of the un-sulfurized alkyl-substituted phenol. Distilling the organic solvent from the detergent to reduce the content of the un-sulfurized alkyl-substituted phenol.
