Reduced friction lubricants comprising magnesium detergents and/or overbased magnesium detergents and molybdenum based friction modifiers
The addition of mixed thio acid amide molybdenum dithiocarbamates to lubricant compositions comprising magnesium detergents and/or overbased magnesium detergents, e.g., overbased magnesium sulfonate, provides lubricant compositions that suppress Low Speed Pre-Ignition and possess excellent low friction characteristics. Furthermore, the addition of molybdenum based friction reducing additives, e.g., mixed thio acid amide molybdenum dithiocarbamates, in combination with one or more fatty acid 2-hydroxyalkylamides, to lubricant compositions comprising magnesium detergents or overbased magnesium detergents provides lubricant compositions that suppress Low Speed Pre-ignition and possess excellent low friction characteristics.
MARINE DIESEL CYLINDER LUBRICANT OIL COMPOSITIONS
Disclosed herein are marine diesel cylinder lubricating oil compositions comprising (a) a major amount of one or more Group II basestocks, and (b) a detergent composition comprising (i) one or more alkaline earth metal salts of an alkyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic carboxylic acid having a total base number (TBN) greater than 250, and (ii) one or more high overbased alkyl aromatic sulfonic acids or salts thereof; wherein the aromatic moiety of the alkyl aromatic sulfonic acids or salts thereof contains no hydroxyl groups; and wherein the marine diesel cylinder lubricating oil composition has a TBN of about 5 to about 120.
LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF OPERATING AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
The instant disclosure generally relates to lubricating compositions having an oil of lubricating viscosity, a mixture of boron-containing and boron-free dispersants, an overbased magnesium-based detergent, an overbased calcium-based detergent, a molybdenum-containing material, and, optionally, other performance additives. The instant lubricating compositions may improve one or more of cleanliness, TBN retention, fuel economy and low-speed preignition (“LSPI”).
LUBRICANT FOR A MARINE ENGINE
A lubricant for marine engine, notably for a two-stroke marine engine. More particularly, a lubricant for a marine engine including at least one lubricant base oil and at least one di-alkylaminopolyalkylamine.
COMPOUND COMPRISING POLYAMINE, ACIDIC AND BORON FUNCTIONALITIES AND ITS USE AS A LUBRICANT ADDITIVE
A product resulting from the reaction of at least: a hydroxybenzoic acid, optionally substituted by a hydrocarbyl group, or an alkali and/or alkaline earth metal salt thereof, a boron compound, a polyalkylamine component selected from triamine and tetramine compounds. Also, a lubricant composition including this product. Use of this product as a lubricant for two-stroke marine engines and four-stroke marine engines, more preferably two-stroke marine engines.
Zinc-free lubricating composition
The invention is directed to a zinc-free lubricating composition for an internal combustion engine containing a phosphorus anti-wear agent, an ashless antioxidant, and a metal-free basic detergent. The lubricating composition provides wear protection, deposit control, and improved acid control with reduced levels of metal-containing additives.
Refrigerator oil and composition for refrigerators
The present invention relates to a refrigerator oil for a mixed refrigerant containing less than 40% by mass of an unsaturated fluorinated hydrocarbon compound (HFO) on a basis of the whole amount of the mixed refrigerant, the refrigerator oil containing a base oil (P) including at least one selected from the group consisting of a polyvinyl ether (PVE), a polyalkylene glycol (PAG), a copolymer (ECP) of a poly(oxy)alkylene glycol or a monoether thereof and a polyvinyl ether, and a polyol ester (POE), with a hydroxy value of the base oil (P) being 15 mgKOH/g or less; and a refrigerator oil composition containing the foregoing refrigerator oil and a specified refrigerant.
METHOD FOR USING LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR EVALUATING DEGRADATION
A method for utilizing a lubricating oil composition in which the content of a metal-based cleaning agent (X) having a base value of 100 mgKOH/g or less is 630 mass ppm or less in terms of metal atoms, and the content of sulfated ash is 1.5 mass % or less. The method includes measuring at least one physical property value among the capacitance and the dielectric constant of the lubricating oil composition while using the lubricating oil composition, and evaluating the progress of degradation of the lubricating oil composition.
Lubricating composition
A lubricating composition comprising a base oil and one or more additives, wherein the composition has: a sulphated ash content (according to ASTM D 874) of at least 0.4 wt % and at most 1.0 wt. %, by weight of the lubricating composition; a total base number (TBN) value (according to ASTM D 2896) of at least 4.0 mg KOH/g and at most 12 mg KOH/g; a total aromatics content contributed by the base oil in the range from 1 wt % to 30 wt %, by weight of the lubricating composition; and a sulphur content contributed by the base oil of 0.4 wt % or less, by weight of the lubricating composition; and wherein the base oil comprises a blend of (i) a first base oil which is a mineral base oil selected from an API Group I mineral base oil and an API Group II mineral base oil, and mixtures thereof, and (ii) a second base oil selected from an API Group II base oil and an API Group III base oil, preferably wherein the first base oil belongs to a different API group to that of the second base oil.
Ether-based lubricant compositions, methods and uses
The present invention provides a lubricant composition comprising a base oil of lubricating viscosity, wherein the base oil comprises an ether base stock of formula (A), where: R.sub.a and R.sub.b are aliphatic hydrocarbyl groups and may be the same or different; the lubricant composition further comprising at least one aminic anti-oxidant and at least one phenolic anti-oxidant. In some embodiments, the ether base stock has the formula (1), where: R.sub.1 R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are as defined herein.
