The addition of mixed thio acid amide molybdenum dithiocarbamates to lubricant compositions comprising magnesium detergents and/or overbased magnesium detergents, e.g., overbased magnesium sulfonate, provides lubricant compositions that suppress Low Speed Pre-Ignition and possess excellent low friction characteristics. Furthermore, the addition of molybdenum based friction reducing additives, e.g., mixed thio acid amide molybdenum dithiocarbamates, in combination with one or more fatty acid 2-hydroxyalkylamides, to lubricant compositions comprising magnesium detergents or overbased magnesium detergents provides lubricant compositions that suppress Low Speed Pre-ignition and possess excellent low friction characteristics.

Lubricant formulations can be characterized by one of: improving electric motor protection when a voltage is applied to an electrode in the presence of a formulation comprising the diisotridecylamine molybdate additive as compared to a fluid lacking the diisotridecylamine molybdate additive; maintaining the electrical resistance slope of a formulation comprising the diisotridecylamine molybdate additive as compared to a fluid lacking the diisotridecylamine molybdate additive; the formulation forming a protective film on copper surfaces; a change in color of the formulation indicating contact load, temperature, time, or viscosity change.

The polymers may find use as additives in lubricating compositions where they provide friction improvement and wear reduction.

Lubricant composition

Disclosed is a lubricant composition including: at least one base oil; at least one polyalkylene glycol with at least 50% by weight of butylene oxide units and having a kinematic viscosity, measured at 100° C. according to standard ASTM D445 (2015), which is greater than or equal to 50 mm2/s, a kinematic viscosity, measured at 40° C. according to standard ASTM D445 (2015), which is greater than or equal to 1000 mm2/s and a Viscosity Index, measured according to standard ASTM D2270 (2012), which is greater than or equal to 180. Also disclosed is the use of such a composition for transmission or gear lubrication.

Lubricating oil composition

A lubricating oil composition with high thermal stability, corrosion resistance, and extreme-pressure performance is provided. The present invention have been completed by finding that a lubricating oil composition containing a particular primary aliphatic polysulfide has excellent thermal stability and extreme-pressure performance. A lubricating oil composition containing a base oil and an additive agent, wherein an aliphatic polysulfide constitutes as an additive agent 1% to 10% by mass of the lubricating oil composition, and a primary aliphatic polysulfide constitutes 1% to 50% by mass of the aliphatic polysulfide.

Ether-based lubricant compositions, methods and uses

The present invention provides a lubricant composition comprising a base oil of lubricating viscosity, wherein the base oil comprises an ether base stock of formula (A), where: R.sub.a and R.sub.b are aliphatic hydrocarbyl groups and may be the same or different; the lubricant composition further comprising at least one aminic anti-oxidant and at least one phenolic anti-oxidant.
