Methods for production of bio-based lubricants and related fluids
Disclosed is a method for production of a methyl ester based formulation. The method involves: providing a feedstock containing about 1% to about 100% canola oil; removing water from the feedstock; heating the feedstock to at least about 60 C.; mixing a solution of about 90% to about 100% (v/v) methanol and a strong base with the heated feedstock to produce a mixture containing methyl ester; and allowing the mixture containing methyl ester to rest for at least one hour. The composition of the methanol and strong base solution being calculated based on the free fatty acid content of the feedstock. The methyl ester based formulations produced by the method can be used as ecofriendly penetrating oils, lubricating oils, machining fluid or releasing agents.

Motor Oil Blend and Method for Reducing Wear on Steel and Eliminating ZDDP in Motor Oils by Modifying the Plastic Response of Steel
An environmentally-improved motor oil blend and related methods for properly lubricating components of an engine and favorably modifying a plastic response of components of the engine, the blend being free of zinc di-alkyl-di-thiophosphates (ZDDP) and free of zinc di-thiophosphate (ZDTP), comprising: a motor oil selected from the motor oil group consisting of Group I, Group II, Group III, Group IV, and Group V motor oils; a motor oil additive comprising alpha-olefins and hydroisomerized hydro-treated severe hydrocracked base oil; ZDDP omitted from the chemical constituents of the motor oil; and ZDTP omitted from the chemical constituents of the motor oil.
WATER SOLUBLE METALWORKING CONCENTRATE
A water soluble metalworking concentrate is a combination of one or more amines; one or more ferrous corrosion inhibitors; one or more phosphate esters; one or more ether carboxylates; a ricinoleic acid condensate; one or more lubricating agents; deionized water and, optionally, one or more non-ferrous corrosion inhibitors. In use, the concentrate is diluted to a concentration of approximately 5% to approximately 10%. In use, the metalworking fluid exhibits excellent lubricity, low foam generation, emulsion stability, protection of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, biostatic stability and environmental compatibility.
Novel Ester Compounds, Method for the Preparation Thereof and Use Thereof
Ester compounds, such as for use in a lubricant, are based on di-, tri- or higher functional carboxylic acids according to formula (I)

Bio-based estolide compositions
Levulinic-capped estolides having improved physical properties that make them more desirable and suitable as bio-based industrial or commercial products are disclosed. The physical properties of the disclosed estolide compositions have surprisingly low pour points that are substantially lower than previously known estolide compounds and superior to petroleum-based compounds designed for similar applications.
GEAR LUBRICANT COMPOSITION
The present application relates to a gear lubricant composition comprising: 97 to 99.9 wt.-% trimethylolpropane triester; and 0.1 to 3 wt.-% at least one additive selected from among anti-wear additives, extreme pressure additives, antioxidants, anti-corrosion additives, metal deactivator additives, antifoams, and mixtures thereof.
Lubricant Composition
A lubricant composition includes a biodegradable polyalkylene glycol, an inherently-biodegradable polyalkylene glycol, and a non-biodegradable polyalkylene glycol. The biodegradable polyalkylene glycol satisfies the biodegradability requirements set forth in OECD 301B. The inherently-biodegradable polyalkylene glycol satisfy the inherently-biodegradability requirements set forth in OECD 301B. The non-biodegradable polyalkylene glycol is defined by OECD 301B and satisfies the non-bioaccumulative requirements set forth in OECD 107. The lubricant composition includes the biodegradable polyalkylene glycol in an amount of at least about 30 parts by weight, the inherently-biodegradable polyalkylene glycol in an amount of from about 0.1 to about 10 parts by weight, and the non-biodegradable polyalkylene glycol in an amount of from about 0.1 to about 5 parts by weight, each based on 100 parts by weight of the lubricant composition.
TRANSFORMER OIL, TRANSFORMER OIL EVALUATION METHOD, AND TRANSFORMER OIL EVALUATION APPARATUS
Provided is a transformer oil that has high environmental compatibility and is expected to be further improved in transformer cooling properties. The transformer oil is a transformer oil prepared by mixing a plant oil and a silicone oil and containing no mineral oil, in which a volume ratio of the plant oil to the silicone oil is 3:7 to 7:3 and magnetic particles (for example, temperature-sensitive magnetic particles) are dispersed.
USE OF POLYESTERS AS VISCOSITY INDEX IMPROVERS FOR AIRCRAFT HYDRAULIC FLUIDS
The invention is related to a composition for use in hydraulic systems of an aircraft. The composition typically comprises an adipic acid-based polyester in a phosphate ester base stock substantially consisting of trialkyl phosphates.
